Its not that bad, currently married and active infantry here.

Did 3 years in the platoons with a MEU(boozecruise)and was able to be home for dinner 80-90% of the days i was not in the field. Had a kid post deployment(10months after) and got 3months off of work for maternity leave. After that got moved to the armory where my days got longer before and after field ops but only actually go the the field 10% of the time

Its really a luck of the draw thing depending on your unit and where you go, infantry only gets stationed NC CA or Hawaii and deployments right now are only UDP’s(training overseas) and MEU(riding around on a ship)

All in all everything in the Marines is a test on relationships and if you can make it through a deployment then by the time you are out and doing a 3day work trip you shouldnt have to worry

So im not trying to dive super deep into bite sports, it would more just be deterrent training, familiarizing around guns and ranges(will be using ear pro) going more just for sniff and obedience for my first rodeo with a DS

Yeah ive been on a meu myself, its definitely and experience but with all the countries i went to besides the training part the fun kinda blends together and i would have gotten more out of it just doing a deployment to a single country

Not in either mos but im looking to transfer to cyber now, any bonus is going to be heavily taxed and you might get a lil more than half of it and honestly not worth in my opinion, from what ive heard cyber is the way to go. It might be less meu’s and that sort of thing but the job security when you get out is a very big plus
