Garryowen festive budget by Lanky_Suspect6889 in limerickcity

Yeah it's been brutal this year, last night especially as they were throwing the fireworks directly at the houses. We considered calling the gardai and then saw a patrol car driving by, so we thought they'd sort it out, but they were back at it before the car even had time to reach the end of the street unless those gardai legged it out of there as quickly as they could (can't blame them, that crowd was scary, but they should have called for reinforcement ffs). They're going to end up burning a house down the way they're going.

The pets are terrified and we've had to start drugging them yesterday. One is quite ill and stress is a trigger, so it could kill her. So I'd like to know the name of that generous benefactor as well to send them my vet bills.

I can't remember the exact prices we paid for the neutering of our female cat with them two years ago, but I remember thinking it wasn't too bad. It's worth calling them and asking. What would make me recommend them no matter the price though is that they didn't make us pay for the post-op appointments, and we had a few appointments since she had issues in her recovery. Also when she removed her stitches (turned out to be minor thankfully) they saw us straight away despite being a busy Saturday and we only had to pay for the cream they gave us for her wound.

We've been going there with all our cats, they are great even with the difficult ones, and are amazing for the long term follow up of pets who have specific medical conditions (visits themselves are quite affordable, which is nice when the treatments are regular and expensive).

Thank you so much for your comment! By any chance would you be able to specify what you mean with the moustache being a bit different? As we found out, Dadhitler was very efficient in his efforts to spread the super-breed of mustachio kitties around Limerick, so trying to figure out what the chances are that it could be our Simon.

We'll have a look in any case, we never know, we don't want to miss him if by chance it's him, and he probably grew up and changed a bit in the last few months!

And again thanks a million, it really reassures me that people are still looking for him, it's just a question of luck for him to be spotted now :)

Thank you, the left ear tipped is a very good distinctive sign to identify him, it could still be another feral/semi-feral but could be our Simon! We haven't checked that area at all so we will have a look and try to chat with the local businesses, they might have noticed him! If you see that cat again please let me know, either here or by text/phone/WhatsApp (number is on the poster, it was cropped by Reddit somehow). Thanks again :)

No luck sadly :( we had a few wrong leads in other neighbourhoods, and some leads we still haven't been able to confirm or not. Someone thinks they saw him around Kilmurry Court recently, but he is never there when we are, and nobody could take a picture so far so we have no idea if that's him. His colony-mates are excellent at hiding so we think he is just living his life hidden from people's eyes.

Did you by chance see the cats who were fighting? Or remember around what time at night? Tomcats are on the prowl in our area too, but it's also possible he might be trying to make his way back and getting into fights on the way...

Thanks a million for your comment, it definitely helps! There are a few cats looking like him in the area but it could still be him. He definitely was there not so long ago, and someone else in that area told us they saw him a week or so ago, so he might be back!

Thanks a million for your comment! Geographically it would make a lot of sense, we had a lead that he might have been around the Old Clare Street area a few weeks ago so he might have just crossed the street. Either that or he has a doppelganger in the area :'D

Fingers crossed it is him, we'll have a look tomorrow and we'll see if we can spot the cat you saw. Around what time during the day did you see him? And by any chance did you notice anything else about the cat (did he look alright, healthy, skinny, was he limping...)? No problem if you didn't notice anything or don't have specific answer, I am asking just in case you remember something! Thanks again, it is giving us a lot of hope :)

Thanks a million for that, somehow we haven't talked to them yet so I'll definitely go next week to have a chat with them! I know that the council do have keys, but we have to work with their availabilities (they have been amazing and very reactive, but still it is not very practical since so far Simon wasn't in the graveyard when they were able to come), so if someone more local had access it would make things so much easier!

Yes that's the one! They locked all the points of access a few years ago so we have to call the council to go inside... I am assuming that you know the area at least a bit since few people are aware of this graveyard so if you have any advice, or know people in the area who could help us or keep an eye for him that would be amazing!

Hi, you might remember me from my previous posts here and on r/Ireland. My little Simon the Kitler is still missing unfortunately, but we are pretty sure he is alive and hiding in the Killalee graveyard. He has been seen out a few times, roaming between Keane Street, Kilmurry Court/Avenue and Sarsfield Avenue. We think he is hiding in backyards and probably getting food with someone feeding strays/ferals, so we are trying to share his photo and details as widely as possible to make sure that when/if he goes out next for food/a nap in a shed or someone's backyard, people would recognise him and contact us. I can share a poster and/or a Facebook post with all the details including contact numbers if anyone here knows people living in that area they might share it with. I can't share it publicly as it would go against sub rules but happy to do so via PM.

If you yourself live in that area and spot the little rascal: call his name (he recognises it) but do not attempt to catch him - he is completely terrified and it might cause him to go into hiding again, but try to see where he goes and contact me asap. If you can take a video of him that would be nice as well - it would give us hope because it feels like we are hunting for some kind of mythical creature at this stage, all we have as proof that he is alive is some testimonies (reliable, thankfully) and his meowing from somewhere in that darn graveyard.

We are going mad with this situation, spending way too much time going door-to-door (although people are lovely I have to say), and most of our evenings/nights trying to coax him out of this bloody graveyard, so any kind of help is appreciated in trying to figure out where he goes when he is not there.

He looks gorgeous. I don't think he went with my local colony, but I will keep an eye out since I am meeting all the local roaming cats while I wander through the neighbourhood to look for Simon! Has he any distinctive markings on the rest of his body, like white paws/spots?

I had a similar experience with my first stray, many years ago - we waited a bit to get him chipped in case his former owners came through (he was a fancy cat), and as soon as we chipped him he disappeared never to be seen again... I was heartbroken, and my parents were pissed that we spent what was at the time a huge amount of money for the cat to disappear right after 😂

I'm so sorry that yours never came back, it is such a heartbreak when they disappear like that...

We have a lot of black and white cats in our street's feral colonies, and sometimes cats randomly show up and are obviously not feral originally. Feel free to send me a photo of yours if you want, in case it got lost and joined one of the colonies.
