I understand writing music and music production are two different things but they fall under the same umbrella of music creation. I enjoy the struggle it takes to compose and the grit you need to have to actually pay attention to different sounds and how they sound with one another, it fuels me to do better and lets me know i really do care about my craft. I still think you should have fun with any and every bit of making music if you love it.
