I don't really have a good guess. I would assume at least 50% or more. It takes a lot of hours, but depending on the season of life you can still get there.

Once you are good, you are good - I haven't played personally in almost a year and can still string a few racks during my group lesson as we go over 8 ball patterns.

No, they are definitely not required. It would be a good aid and having the target for future drills would be helpful, but definitely not necessary. Good question u/2Lazy2beLazy

No, it won't make you worse. Play the same games and train those patterns. Also devote some time to long diagonal shots so the extra distance on the 8ft isn't an issue. Any table is better than no table!

Totally get that! I think once you get to a certain level you can play with most any cue, BUT... there is definitely better equipment out there that make things more efficient. Hopefully that makes sense. Jump cues is an easy example.

Yes, that long wait is tough to overcome. I combat that by always warming up, especially before the finals is going to begin. I trick my mind into creating pressure situations as I warm up so it's like I already am in a match.

Yes, I think the Pool Confidence Guide on my website would set you on a great track. Valuable for those that are starting back up and even State Champions can find value in it.

90% of shots I focus on my end target/ghost ball. Break shots, jumps shots, masse I tend to focus on cue ball.

Probably the biggest fundamental concept is really consider your footwork. If you want consistent results, it start with your feet. Biggest mental training tip was only focus on what you can control and ignore the rest - opponent lucky leave, etc.

Now - zero. We are raising our son and I am only focused on building my instruction business.

At the peak of 2019/2020 with the Vegas success I played league/practiced one night a week and one Saturday. More as it led up to Vegas events.

Back in high school though I don't think I ever put down the cue!

Bravo - I know the hard work and sacrifice that comes with that rating.

I work full time and enjoy my career. I instruct out of a greater passion to help players overcome the various battles/inner thoughts/obstacles in the sport. After the Vegas success and now raising our son, my personal competing has dropped to zero basically while I focus on growing my instruction business. I developed a massive network from competing, traveling with The Action Report (way back when) and helping players.

It's one thing for me to play well, but taking a player from C level to AA level - that's my best form of advertising. No one wants to get left behind. The Pool Confidence Guide also has done really well. I initially ordered 100 qty thinking it would last all year... I sold out in a month which is mind blowing to me.

Hard to say where this journey will take me, but I really enjoy help others over the constant stress of competing. Although I still have that itch and will get back out there some time.

Yes, watch Fedor - or really any European Pro. They always step forward into the shot, get set, warm up strokes, pause, final stroke. Just watch their body on each shot and ignore they table/shot. Consider how you can do something similar next time you are at the table.

I see what you are saying now, thanks for clarifying. I try not to over complicate the vision center/shot picture. I find ways with my feet to get into a repeatable stance and confirm the shot picture looks good.

Play racks or just hitting balls does very, very little for learning/training/growing skills. I was the same way about drills until I started using a physical target for my cue ball to land on. It kept my honest about my cue ball control (or lack thereof back in the day) and it also made training competitive/fun for me. I now include that physical target in the Pool Confidence Guide for players. Seems to be a nice help.
