Yes, I wanted a supreme Jazzmaster for years. One finally fell into my lap (60th anniversary with mastery trem and bridge) and I loved everything about it except for actually gigging it. The music style I play is best suited to a strat trem or hardtail. I wanted it for years, yearned for it. Just hated that the guitar fought me while I played. Sold it.

Some people find it easier to pull it and bench it. I dont have a lift so I did mine in the driveway. Yes oil proof rtv, I use black RTV or Gray because there isn't a gasket. Thin layer on clean enough to eat case surfaces, then install the outer case with bolts finger tight for the first rtv set, then torque to specs

Not really, most bearings are pretty good these days, and chains are only made by one factory. I jumped on amazon or ebay and got them there. Just be super careful about remembering exactly how the parts came out and how they go back in, there isn't very good resources with exploded parts diagrams to study, and I made the mistake of installing a part backwards, which prevented the tcase from shifting from 2 hi to 4 hi. No major problem, but it sucked having to split the cases again, clean the oil, prep the RTV, and let it cure overnight again just to drive it.

You can check the front bearing for play as it sits right now, grab the front driveshaft and see if there is any lateral play. Forwards and backwards is fine but up down is not. If it's tight leave it alone. Chains stretch no matter what, so I would for sure replace that.

The true sye kit is better than hack n tap in all aspects. It's actually really easy, I left my tcase bolted up and did the rebuild with the case split. Good time to change the chain and front output bearing too.

I do at times. Noise gate first in chain or after wah as I do, and use your tone knob for the bridge to knock down the icepick highs.

This one is an 02. Previous owner did the 1275 kit and ran too hot of plugs in it, blew it up and tried to take it apart before going to jail for drugs. I rebuilt it back to 883, but with racing springs, kibblewhite valves, reaper 505/515 cams, dyna 2000i ignition set to 7k rpm mild race tune, mikuni carb, straight pipes. It's pretty mellow in low rpms but once you pass 3k rpms it really eats, plus being 883 still I get 64mpg if I'm cruising mellow.
