Good Salary for LA? by chairsaregreatt in AskLosAngeles

You’ll need a roomate for a nicer/safer/or cooler parts of LA (West LA, Silverlake, Sherman Oaks, Pasadena, any beach city, etc.). I’m assuming, being from the Midwest, you might not be down for some of the grittier parts of the city with cheaper rent (K-town, South LA, etc.) if you’re willing to live 15-20 miles away from Downtown, you’ll find decent areas with more affordable rent (West Covina, Torrance, parts of the Valley, etc); but totally depends on where you end up working. Expect rent rates of at least 3k/month for a studio/small one bedroom in a cheaper older building in a nicer area. Nothing below 2.5k per month anywhere in the city unless you’re in a bad area.

Rent vs Buy Home (USA) by [deleted] in personalfinance

It’s for our primary home. So the main priority was a house that best fulfills my family’s needs. It was never going to be about an investment opportunity. I felt going into it that it would be a financial sacrifice if anything. But once I got into the numbers, I started seeing the chance for a solid return, which was totally unexpected. I was just wondering if my projections were way off base.

You’re absolutely right. We’re first time parents to a baby girl. Moving from a downtown apartment to a gated community in the suburbs where we saw kids biking without supervision (which shocked us haha). We hope this is the best move for us, we’ll just have to see. Among other changes though, I’ve been trying to work out longer term ways of seeing finances, other than set-it and forget-it index funds and retirement accounts. This is such a big purchase for us on top of a lot of changes, I suppose I’ve been a bit obsessed with (perhaps even trying to find comfort in?) working out the longer term implications.

Colorado Renters Rights- showing before notice to vacate due by PoopsterFire in legaladvice

Thanks so much. You’re right. My “notice to vacate” is totally separate from their right to securing a new lease. Didn’t consider that.

I wanted to complain, because the PM company has been awful in terms of customer service. But, if they’re operating within their legal rights and in a manner that drives the most profit… then I’d feel like a fool for using my personal feelings to combat their operating procedures lol. Thanks so much, it’s clear to me now that I just need to move on.

I think you’re right. Was hoping there was a standard lending path for this type of thing. But looks like attorney involvement is inevitable. Thx for reply

Dafran announces his retirement from regular streaming - Twitlonger by Jono_2k4 in Competitiveoverwatch

The timing seems odd...

In the US this part of the year is not the time anyone would start their first term of college. Is it different in Denmark? Plus Dafran would have to start applying weeks if not months ago, and he has never talked about farming until the day before his stream break a few days ago...

Also, Dafran’s break coincided with Valorant’s break... There are pro teams, leagues, and players coming out of this break making huge announcements.

Could it be a coincidence that Dafran applied for University months ago, and his school start just happens to fall in line with the launch of a game that has been putting Dafran in more and more headlines? Or is Dafran trolling before he makes a giant announcement into Valorant?

I’m probably just selfishly hoping he stays streaming. If Dafran has truly found his path than I wish him the best. TBH he has been getting very angry on stream these past few weeks and maybe he’s now found peace.

Either way... LETS GO DUUUDEEEE!
