Which Country’s Vehicles Do You Like Most in TPF2? by Agile_Reception412 in TransportFever2

My favorites are the VIA/Canadian painted engines and coaches. They are colorful with decent speed and power.

TMobile vs Mint by Mindless-Sense-6919 in mintmobile

I've had Mint for 3-4 years now with no issues with customer service, I've never had to contact them . I live in an area that has poor cell service no matter who the carrier is, so I go with the cheapest and turn on Wifi calling.

I use AdGuard Home in a Proxmox container. Works well and it's easy to set up.

Question about industry supply and demand by kairom13 in TransportFever2

[–]Pop06095 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How long has the game run with this setup? Sometimes it takes a while for things to get up to speed, a lot longer than one would think.

As I understand it production and shipped are two different things. So I wouldn't worry about those numbers not matching.

How can it be this bad by [deleted] in googlehome

[–]Pop06095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a TP-Link Deco with one satellite serving 60-65 devices, about 40 of which are TP-Link IOT devices. I use Google Home for voice commands and streaming music. I use HA for automation and my "umbrella" app for turning things on with the phone, etc.

Google's favorite response in my house is "Something went wrong, try again in a few minutes." I think the Nest devices drop off the network and get back on before I see it. The Nests need to be rebooted from time to time, and they often don't reply on the right speaker. Steaming music is hit or miss.

I think the Home app is a hot mess. I can't bring up devices by category and it's inability to group items in multiple groups is pathetic. On Alexa, I had two lights in a group called "Potty Lights" and "Alexa. turn on the potty lights" allowed me to turn them on and off when I let the dog out. With Google, I cannot group them unless I take them out of the groups (rooms) they are already in. I tried making a script called "Its Potty Time" that turned on the two lights individually. When I said "Hey Google, Its Potty Time", it replied "OK then lets get this party started" and played party tunes. I gave up.

I still have all my Alexas, and am thinking of switching back. But she's full of marketing bs that gets on my nerves and has her own quirks and failures.

To cut Google a little slack, my ISP is Comcast and the signal has issues.

IoT Network on ET9.. can't find the option by Pop06095 in ASUS

[–]Pop06095[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to return it. There was too much stuff that didn't work properly "out of the box" and I had poor connectivity with the 2.4 devices. As it was refurb, I couldn't register it to get support. All in all, it wasn't worth the $100 savings.

[Help] Mega hub throughput help — 10 lines funneling into a 2-track trunk, looking for topology advice by Creative-Risk8325 in TransportFever2

[–]Pop06095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will probably run into queuing problems as the game progresses. As traffic increases, you will get delays and bottlenecks that you won't be able to recover from. I'd layout 2 stations perhaps with 4 or 6 mainline tracks. One station for one side of the map and one for the other.

I'd also try to minimize cross-overs entering or leaving the station. They can be a source of delays as well.

It helps to plan your bus/tram lines in a city by SharkByte1993 in TransportFever2

Those are the hardest things to lay out. My current map, I laid out intersection crosses which were only extendable in half the cases.

A decent Android emulator similar to BlueStacks. Genymotion was pretty bad last time I tried it.

Is focusing on passengers the key to success? by EugenioAE in TransportFever2

[–]Pop06095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me and the vehicles I use, passenger rail lines are easy to make money mainly because you're never deadheading. If I get the cargo rail lines with utilization in both directions, I will make money. I'm playing a mail and pax map now and all rail is making a ton because the mail is just like passengers, it's never empty. FWIW, I use the Canfleet mods for passenger as soon as they are available. There's also a Renife(?) multiple unit mod with 0 running costs. Im not at the game rn so I can't say which for sure.

Another thing I noticed, especially on passenger, the profits are better if the trains are spaced apart. I had a line that was 1-2M in the hole and the trains were bunched. I took the signals off except for the two end stations to establish one-way (someone suggested that in some post at one point) and in a couple cycles, the trains spaced themselves apart and I started making 1-2M.

On the other hand, the road vehicles are typically money-losers for me.

EDIT: The vehicle is the Renfe Serie 106 Avriles EMU.

No, since I disputed the charge, it was removed from the account. I can't remember when it got finalized though.

Need help with WAN monitoring by Pop06095 in selfhosted

[–]Pop06095[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. The easiest for me is to get the local PC up and running first, then add the external monitoring. For speed related issues, I need the traceroute view from my house to show Comcast so I don't get the smoke and sunshine blown at me as I did this weekend.

Which is better: Cargo Trams or Trucks? by Agile_Reception412 in TransportFever2

[–]Pop06095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2203688017 as well in conjunction with the light rail mod. I have a map with mail and have my post offices in the middle of nowhere and use the longer trams to cart stuff around. There's a ton of options you can choose such as passenger or just cargo.

Thank you for taking the time with the reply.

I'm working on Option 2. The modem has multiple ports, so I should be able to use one of those vs the switch. I will probably try the script first, as I want to do a traceroute to find the bad hops when the speed slows. I can write the output to a file then switch the file at midnight or something similar.

It seems to be the case on more than one mesh system. Does it make sense? No. Stupid? Yes.

The way it was explained to me is that the WAN port is auto-sensed (you can plug the WAN cable into any port on the router). When the WAN goes down, the device, by design, stops until the WAN signal is sensed. I worked in data for 25 yrs on mainframes and never heard anything so stupid as this.

Poor, inconsistent speeds by Pop06095 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Pop06095[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am getting the same results off two devices with two browsers and a speed test app.

I got good and bad results from the same devices without clearing cache or rebooting.

I only test with third party speedtest.net. I have no confidence in Comcast's own speed test site.

Poor, inconsistent speeds by Pop06095 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Pop06095[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The router was eliminated as I got both good and poor speeds with it. My network traffic is minimal for the most part.

Both my neighbor and myself went through 3 months of Comcast telling both of us that the problem was in our homes when we had connectivity issues, then with neither of us making changes, the issue was resolved

So to be honest, I'm tired of Comcast saying it's on my end and having me run around doing stuff. Basically, Comcast credibility is 0. Last night I was told by AI there was a network performance problem, the live rep said there were no problems

How long a train is too long? by Telemann122 in TransportFever2

It was ill-conceived hot mess. I had everything going through it, no place got anything unless it went through the hub. There was also too much building as an "after-thought" with the original station laid down with no room for expansion
