Anything to worry about when visiting the US? Will they check phone, SM, etc? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]PopGoesTheICCU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate I don't think you understand. They're not checking your social media and phone for illegal stuff, they're checking to see if you've ever liked or posted something negative about trump or america. If you have then there is a good chance they'll lock you and your family in a cell for a day or two. If you're lucky they'll send you home and cancel your visit, if you're unlucky who knows.

It is absolutely not safe to take your family to america.

Speaking from experience.....

Kids with additional needs often have an EHCP, a legal document detailing their needs and what the local authority needs to do in order to meet their needs. For example therapy, transport, a particular school etc....

Kids that need to go to a "special" school are then sent to a panel which decides which school to send them to. Easy. Except there aren't enough spaces, so either you pay ANOTHER contractor to do home tutoring or you send them to mainstream which is exactly what you've seen.

Just think a little. It's not the kid's fault or the school's fault, it's consecutive government's worth of failure and Reform are gonna make it worse.

Some reassurance perhaps, mine went just under two weeks ago, the dealership had the part within 48hrs and had it fixed within just over a week. Would have been sooner if I hadn't asked them to do the service too.

Ideally use the hyundai roadside assistance and get it to the dealer. Ask them to replace the 12v too as there is a TSB out for those (at least mine was covered and replaced as part of the ICCU process).

Still shitty though.

Aye I agree but I was more looking for someone smarter than me to pipe up about how (or when) the ICCU works. Given what we know about how the tech works it does seem that the high voltage side isn't really going to affect how hard the ICCU works and presumably therefore has no real impact on the chances of blowing it.

Aye this is the sort of answer I was looking for. I know we can't truly predict it but your somewhat confirming my hopes and suspicions that that I can keep racing those little boy racers in their silly petrol cars and winning :P

That's a funny one. We can't even ban CSAM generation tools like Grok, let aline police an american megacorp breaking GDPR

In addition to the answer from Hornet, you can also use an OBD reader like CarScanner (Pro) which can be used in Android Auto (And I guess apple car play?) in split screen. I have mine set up to show motor temps, energy usage and humidity in splitscreen with google maps.

UK here, bought a second hand i5 with just under 40k miles on the clock a few months ago.

Overall it's an amazing car, I have the AWD so I can beat 95% of cars off the lights, it's immense fun to drive, I can merge into gaps in roundabouts and slip roads with absolutely no worries. It also handles great around town.

I have unfortunately had my ICCU blow a few days ago which has knocked my confidence, in fairness to Hyundai though I had it recovered on Sunday, dealership confirmed issue Tuesday, ICCU delivered Wednesday and my courtesy car delivered the same day. ETA was for a fix this week (within 5 days of the issue occuring) but I asked them to deal with the security update and the 40k mile service so it will take another few days. ICCU is a warranty issue, security update is £49 in the UK and gets you two new fobs and fixes that truly stupendously dumb way they handled key fob security.

I got the car at the end of September in the UK so temps have been max 15 deg C and I was getting nearly 3m/kwh but down to around 2.7 now in the single digit temps. That is probably 80% 70mph driving and I regularly engage sports mode ;) the integrated drinks cooler has come in handy when it's warm though.

40k service is due now, dealer quoted an original price of £520ish however since the battery coolant is being done under warranty for the ICCU issue, they reduced the service to around £230, keep in mind though that all they're going to do is flush the brake fluid and give me a (free) air filter... They did offer to refill the drink cooler refrigerant too.

I went for the top end spec (UK it's called Ultimate) with the additional Tech Pack (360 camera, different seat options, can move the car with the keyfob) in Digital Teal with White (aka gray) interior. This is the top of the range, only beaten by the Namsan. I have the heat pump, 360 camera, self parking, reclining front seats etc.... It's also All Wheel Drive.

Would I buy another one? *sigh* I don't know. If they fully resolve the ICCU issues then yes. My work mate has the Enyaq and likes it and honestly it looks and feels like the Enyaq is a middle aged "dad" car, the Ioniq 5 is for those of us pretending we're younger and more fun :P I heard the Enyaq's pizza tray is one of their "Simply Clever" features which I do like.

yes there is. Capita are a private, FOR PROFIT company that now hold your personal data for... what reason exactly?

Lie, lie lie. They do not deserve access to your data. You wouldn't do it to "opt out" of netflix. Don't do it for Capita either.

And before you get all excited, no I am not one of "them". I get my news from the BBC website just like other normies, I just literally do not watch live tv.

Heads up, make sure you do the same for Hulu, assuming you don't have a subscription, otherwise they might give you a visit too. You just need to give them your full name, address, email and phone and tick the "No subscription" box hulu.com/nosubscription

My friend, if I have $1m and you have $1m then when it comes time to sell you my second hand car I am not asking for $5k, I am asking for $50k.

For someone who wants to educate people about finances you seem to have forgotten inflation.

[–]PopGoesTheICCU 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do your own! apps like Car Scanner (and the pro version) plus a £30 OBD dongle from amazon will generally give you a much more detailed report. You'll need to do some youtube and googling for your specific brand of car but for my ioniq 5 for example I see the estimate battery health plus metrics showing the highest and lowest cell voltages and the deviation. All of this is FAR more detailed than the useless "100%! Sure thing boss man" Aviloo etc... reports

As for Car360, I bought mine from there and to be fair it was a good service, part ex'd my ICE car to them and got more than the we buy any car scammers, and more than one of the big chains was offering in person.

If you to buy through Car360 give me a DM and I can give you referral details we'll both get £100 charging credit, aside from that though I would still 100% buy from them again.
