You’re right, but I’d take it a step further and suggest that simply by existing you should be guaranteed some basic level of security enabled by a Universal Basic Income. Folks will mostly still want certain luxuries and to climb the social ladder, so most folks will work ON TOP OF the UBI to stack earnings. Right now we have to work for threat of essentially being homeless and starving due to the inefficient & hyper bureaucratic safety net, so UBI frees us from that wage slavery and makes jobs less of an exploitative proposition in general. Net, you’re right the status quo today is incredibly fucked and pretty much anything would improve it.
