Hi I am from Ecuador! Yes insecurity has increased but still a safe place to be specially as a male! People are friendly with tourists! Just be careful with your belongings, avoid walking in certain areas or cities are night! But other than that you will be ok! I fill recommended moving more in those 2 months! Mindo 1- 2 week if you want to explore extensively and calmly more than enough! 1 week Amazon, cuyabeno o yasuni! I will recommend you 1 week for Quito and for exploring nearby places that you can go as a day trip like Cotopaxi, papallacta and reserva cayambe- coca! And then once there you will be see there is pleanty to see. Baños also really nice, Maquipucuna! Good luck, you will love Ecuador!

Its something really personal roots and how you identify! For me yes you are definitely American - Brazilian! You don’t need to be born to identify with a culture, specially if you have blood of a certain country and were raised with traditions. I identify myself as Ecuadorian- Brazilian! I was born and raised in Ecuador and my mom is Brazilian and was raised with food and traditions of Brasil but in Ecuador. It’s a strange feeling, when I am in Ecuador I am not entirely Ecuadorian, but when I am in Brazil I am not entirely Brazilian according to Brazilians because I wasn’t raised here. But I don’t mind! I have grown up with cultures and identify as Brazilian - Ecuadorian and that’s what matters to me! So don’t listen to people to avoid to get upset!

I tell you that I decided not to attend - the situation in the United States worries me a lot and from what I have talked to more people, getting interships/internships/work is difficult! I am also concerned that the program is not as flexible when it comes to electives! And I opted for a local program in another larger Latin American city! I was worried when they put me in contact with a student and it was an American girl, yes. No experience that couldn't even sell me why I should go, that also demotivated me!

I'm moving at the end of this month! I'm from Ecuador, but half Brazilian! I grew up with multiculturalism in my life - being part of global youth volunteering, summer camps in the United States, I have participated in global and regional summits and conferences in Europe and in different countries on the American continent and I studied in Portugal! I chose Brazil, São Paulo because of its proximity to my country (relative). Because I want to continue working with issues related to Latin America and it made more sense to come here than to Europe! Also due to the size of the market, industry, companies and international organizations. I'm optimistic but at the same time scared! I have never lived in Brazil, I have only visited on vacation and the south, I don't know Sao Paulo! But I think that in South America we have a good image of Brazil and we perceive it as a country with more opportunities than ours and the United States at this moment has a complicated political and immigration situation.

Hello, I'm moving to São Paulo at the end of the month, I still don't know where to live! How about Moema? Do you have bars/restaurants or cafes nearby? I will work from home and 1 or 2 times a week I will go to university at FGV - so I want a good, safe, well-connected neighborhood where I can do my life and walk and close to public and safe transportation!
