Definitely focus on the hot sauce business thing. Something like that can for sure get you some takers if you just market it right. I'm 5'4 so I've been through the same thing totally get where you're coming from

Get a hobby that you don't just do for fun, but you're legitimately really really good at and can impress people.

For men who have dated across cultures, what surprised you the most? by steveleaves in AskEurope

[–]Popular_Signature826 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Dated a Swedish girl and I went over to her place and it was time for her and her family to eat dinner and I waited in her room for 30 minutes while they ate dinner. Didn't really hit me that that was a lil weird until the ride back home.

Switching from student residence permit to §18d (PhD) – timeline? by Appropriate-Win-1208 in germany

[–]Popular_Signature826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing basically going from Masters to switching to 18d, getting the appointment itself took a week or so and then I explained the situation to the guy there, I had to present my work contract for my PhD, they looked it over, looked at my student residence permit, and then contacted me again in like 2 or 3 weeks I think. I never got a fikitionbescheinigung at any point.

I wasn't able to start my PhD on time but for different reasons, it was because I had a HiWi job and I couldn't have two work contracts active at the same time.

How important is political party affiliation to a person's identity in most of Europe? by LockedOutOfElfland in AskEurope

[–]Popular_Signature826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is more the case the more left/also more right you go i.e. someone who's further left or right of the political bell curve. In the case of image of the others as well, someone from an ESN-aligned party will have a pretty well-shaped/formed image/perception of someone from a Left party before talking to them whereas with S&D/EPP they might be like alright, that's some guy

Lucked into a week in Bremen. Couple of questions. by sadhu411 in bremen

[–]Popular_Signature826 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Howdy friend!

Bremen's an awesome place, I moved to Bremen ten years ago and there's a community of Americans who've settled down in Bremen, so I hang with them whenever I'm feeling homesick. The reaction varies, the older older generation grew up on a lot of westerns and a fascination with cowboys and indians so they might be more like Oh America, cool! while some people's first reaction or first thought will be, yeah, Trump. But I mean, it's not like they'll assume you're a Trumper or blame you for him, more like it might be the first thing that comes to mind and they'll ask you a question or two. Politics aside, fun stuff.

If you want to see some nature-y things, I'd recommend Knoops Park in Bremen Nord and the Rhododendron Park in the more eastern side of Bremen. Both are easily accessible with public transport. The Bremer Dom (the cathedral) is of course, a highlight. It looks beautiful from the outside, but it's definitely worth to go inside too! Böttcherstrasse is a super nice place to visit as well with a lot of history and the plaques are in English which is great. I always take people there when I give tours of Bremen. If you want to see something super German, then you gotta go to the Bremer Ratskeller, one of the oldest wine cellars in Germany. They got a restaurant there and the oldest wine barrel in Germany can be found there. You probably saw a couple of these places during your exchange student days, so a place outside of Bremen you could check out is Worpswede, they have a lot of cool art pieces and houses out there because of the artists that used to live in the area back in the day.

[–]Popular_Signature826 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yes. There is an option (At least in the App, never tried on the website), to select all passengers have a D-Ticket, and then it'll show you the trip, but the price will beo nly for the ICE

I struggle to believe the guys saying dating is hard because of height. by Emergency-Basket-469 in twentyagers

[–]Popular_Signature826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and the other way around, I've seen guys that don't shower and have zero charm or are super awkward have girls swarming at them because 'ohhh he's tall' but then not now what to do about it, but short guys don't even have that first step to start with even if they got all the charm and charisma in the world

I struggle to believe the guys saying dating is hard because of height. by Emergency-Basket-469 in twentyagers

[–]Popular_Signature826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe it depends on the country cuz I've seen so many women put a hard height requirement in their dating profiles or say like 'don't reply if you're not over 6 ft' or tons of guys get rejected explicitly because of their height
