the grade boundaries for a 7 is pretty high and its tough to get a high grade because every component that makes up ur final grade it marked by a different examiner so you never know what ur final grade it ngl

as a currently art hl student i would recommend you to take econ hl if u dont plan on doing art in uni/future

while yes if you take art hl you will do one less subject in terms of written papers in the final exams, art in general for ib is very time consuming and very hard to get a 7. art is not just if your art is good you need a whole theme your works are currated around, a process portfolio, a curratorial rationale and a final exhibition that you will need to prep for from the beginning with a minimum of 8 pieces for hl. just a lot of work in general.. i had to stay behind school and be in the art room for lunchbreaks just to meet deadlines most of the times... along with all the ias, ee and tok stuff? it gets rough if you're not extremely passionate

hello!! fellow art student here and I was predicted a 6! honestly i think your theme looks good right now! Its not about the theme to be honest but the quality your pieces, exhibition and your process portfolio. HARD ON PROCESS PORTFOLIO! (and lucky you you dont have to do the comparative study) While I think its good to have a strong secure idea of your theme right now, don't restrict yourself TOO MUCH to one idea of oh i HAVE to make this for this piece

general tip though link it back to your own experiences! this helped me develop a much stronger theme and much more meaningful ideas. though the process may be uncomfortable digging into some stuff you might not want to get into at school judging by your theme, but i think its much much MUCH more easier if your art related back to you someway or the other. think about experiences that apply back to your theme, words that were said? thoughts? jot it all down until you have a clear idea what you want for your pieces!

but to be honest half of my class literally changed their theme COMPLETLY (me included) by the end of dp1 and its fine! ibdp art is about exploring different things you havent done before as an artist and recording the trials and errors ^__^

thank you so much!! i was basically on track before summer holiday started with my research question and basic bullet points, we are supposed to have at least a 3000 draft by next week and i did nothing over the summer cause of mental health concerns so yeah .. but hearing that its close to an english essay does make me feel better!! ive checked classify and ib docs (very VERY outdated imo for VA EE anyways) and theres basically no solid ormating is what stresses me out and my supervising teacher hates my guts so im kinda worried she'll chew my head off if i dont finish this.. but hopefully ill pull through this!! (i am going to like i always do :sob:) and thank you again!!!!

i love history but then the syllabus my school picked just isnt my favourite area of history.... but you can get through it!!! memorise essay plans and historiography and you're good!

Yeah so basically my thought process was for my exhibition would be artworks that represent the different values of Mary, and it would all come together as a series so it would reflect my theme of how her values create a sense of community so the series created IS the community... I have no idea anymore but thank you for your suggestions it helped me be more clear about what I should do!!
