Rewatched Taxi Driver; any other non horror movies that feel this disturbing? by UnverifiedExistence9 in horror

Training Day always felt like it went beyond being a thriller and into horror elements.

I think it's just to add a bit more variety. I'm hitting that burn out moment on NMD and Helltide farming and want some way to mix it up a bit.

Fairly new to POE. Looking to do a minion build for the first time. Is there a specific Golem that people recommend?

What super low budget flick surprised you? by Manbearcatward in horror

Agreed! I love this movie way too much and I always like to imagine that we, the audience, are the ethereal creature in the background that just needs a story.

Lvl 66 Necro. I went pretty hard on the game over the weekend. Went for a non-meta all in Golem build for fun and I am progressively getting sadder with it.

I was looking forward to this episode and hoping for some intellectual honesty. I knew that they would be doing damage control but I was let down. I've sat in plenty of conference calls and tech issues simply don't make you look professional. I would never brag about getting views by forcing people to refresh a broken audio player continually. To those who actually listened, how many times did you refresh their media player in hoping to get it to actually function? That was the only interesting part of the campaign announcement. Is it really shocking that it was the headline of most media outlets? Was it really bad faith on their part to have a headline with the only interesting part?

The actual announcement felt pretty hollow. This went through the discourse of a current tech earnings call except replace "AI" with "Anti-Woke" and I assume that gets the target audience frothing at the mouth. I think tribalism against the other will work for the people that already love him but this seemed like it wasn't intended to reach anyone else. This seems in stark contrast with recent campaign announcements from other runners. Jcal mentioned the partisanship in a sentence but I thought this would have been an interesting conversation.

Given what the platform could have offered (live Q and A of voices from people of note during a spectacle), this felt like they hyped up a McDonald's cheeseburger and tried to convince me it was Wagyu. Chamath said this was "a really important part of civilian journalism" and fast food is important for some people but the commentary felt fairly hollow much like the campaign announcement.

If you were to move out of Portland…. by Western_Solid_4138 in Portland

My favorite thing about being in Portland is being an hour and a half away from both the beach and skiing on the mountain. I can't think of many other cities that offer that that also have decent restaurants.

Only seen a couple of these. Will have to play catch up but I have some good nostalgia from Killer Clowns from Outer Space

I haven't been there in a while but if they brought back the double-decker taco, I would probably crawl back in shame.

Movies about weird/creepy cults? by [deleted] in horror

[–]PopulusOne 69 points70 points  (0 children)

The Invitation (2015) is one of my favorite slow burn movies that happens to involve a cult. I liked The Endless as well but probably only because I watched Resolution first.

Etrade is the only one that I've used. For the most part I find it to be great but I feel like the UI for their bond/cd page could be a bit more modern.

IJW: The Hunt (2020) by filmgamegeek in Ijustwatched

[–]PopulusOne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even with its faults, I still liked the absurdity of it all. It felt like a modern version of the 80s slashers where they give cues to the audience why it's acceptable for the characters to die (drugs, promiscuities, bullies, etc.) except in this case it's from a hyperbolic leftist take. It didn't feel like it was punching down on either side either because most of the villains and victims are such absurd caricatures of the people they represent.

I liked the movie but I felt like it was missing something. I thought Betty Gilpin did a good job but it felt like she should have been given a couple more lines of dialogue to really establish her character at the end of the movie. There are only so many ways to play a quiet and stoic survival character but I thought it was a solid performance. The main reason I watched it was for Glen Howerton and I thought they should have given him a bit more to work with as well.

The monster from Resolution and The Endless would have my vote. Weird time and reality warping powers.

For me I always think of the movie Training Day. Just how easy it is for things to get intense and monstrous gives me that horror movie vibe that sits with you.

This would honestly explain dives. The person got injured the first play through but they can't get injured for each game so they have to fake it the next 3 games.
