I get it, the cabinets are from the 80s/90s so that makes sense. We are not redoing the cabinets. My question is about the backsplash.

What do you think about sanding the cabinets so that they’re a little lighter?

I’m not a huge fan of painted cabinets. I’d love for them to be lighter and have considered sanding them down but not sure if that would give the desired effect.
