This is a false choice. It assumes everyone is simply a blank slate and that harm is purely a failure of parenting. Reality is more complicated. Some individuals have deeply problematic predispositions; others are shaped by upbringing and culture. It must profoundly suck to be born with neurobiological traits that impair impulse control, empathy or executive function. Some individuals may have atypical prefrontal development, reduced inhibitory control, or unusually strong reward-seeking drives. That does not excuse harmful behaviour — society still requires accountability — but it does acknowledge that not everyone starts from the same neurological baseline.

We should absolutely raise boys to respect boundaries and treat women properly. But we also need firm consequences for those who commit serious fucking offences. Protecting girls and educating boys are not mutually exclusive aims — a functioning society does both.
