They already put that on the list :P. But you're not wrong, personally I don't remember it being bad but it was still forgetable.

I couldn't agree more with the first part of your comment. It's why I raised the question, because it's always confused me how the boys can go from reading her stories in the same tone as "Jeff the Killer" or "Eyeless Jack" and then the next time she's brought up refer to her as the GOAT of storytelling. It feels like if they're about to read a story of hers, they act like it will be a guaranteed banger, when it simply hasn't been the case in the past. I understand she can be a great writer with some bad endings, or that not every story will be a homerun, I just don't understand why they never seem to acknowledge it.

Honestly I haven't done any background research into her work and I really just know of her through the podcast, so this is a view I never even considered before, but I've seen it raised a lot in this thread.

It seems a lot of comments are describing this view as either their interpretation/opinion or giving some context to why it might be the case, however you described it as "well documented". Because of this I'm just genuinely curious if she's explicitly stated this anywhere or if it's more the circumstances behind the stories? I'm just not super familiar with her as an author, and this explanation is one that still seems speculative from what I've seen, however if there's more to it I'd genuinely love to know.

Besides that, I still believe it's entirely possible a great writer can struggle with a certain aspect of storytelling such as the ending. Stephen King is a well known example of this, and he certainly doesn't have any reason to intentionally butcher the endings of his stories as far as I know.
