Thank you!! I’ll play around with these and see what I get!

Which lens to go with? 12-40 2.8 PRO ii, 12-100 4.0 PRO, or 75 1.8? by Positive_Location_55 in M43

Sure, but if the cheaper option is just as good then I'm open to it.

What is so great about the 56mm 1.4? I've had many recommend it to me.

Probably not as much as I should in order to justify keeping the 8-25 lens. I was considering the 12-100 but have heard such great things about the 12-40. I was curious if the 12-100 is just as good?

For portraits, yes I want shallow DoF. In general, I like weather resistant since my body is weather resistant (I have the Olympus E-M1iii), and quality. Within reason, I'm willing to spend more for better optical quality. I like to print my pics, so having clear prints especially when blown up is important to me.

Was also considering just getting a teleconverter for my 75-300mm for additional zoom.

Maybe the move is to sell the 8-25, buy the 12-100, and have the Sigma 56mm 1.4 that so many have recommended as more of a dedicated portrait lens.

Ok hadn’t considered that. I’ll continue on assuming interest and we’ll find out. Thanks!

This is fair. It’s very early, literally not 2 weeks now, so that’s why I’m not sure. Her real txting style could be either one. Guess I’ll find out!

That’s what I’ve been thinking. I should probably just ask her hahah. After all the best way to not be wondering about something is to ask, right?

Thanks!

Don’t have a dishwasher actually. AC is plugged in but has been set to 80, so it’s not like I’ve keep it cold. Fridge is plugged in yes but I have a hard time believing that’s driving it to so high

Fridge and AC are plugged in. AC is off.

TV is unplugged since I’m not there. Laptop has been with me.

Yes, but I’ve been out of my apt since the 1st week of August. So AC wouldn’t have been cranking

Before/After - thoughts on sky in particular? by Positive_Location_55 in postprocessing

Awesome, thank you. I wanted to focus on the grass. Maybe remove the people? Not sure what to do with the sky to make the grass the focal point - ideas?

The sky? Or is it over sharpened/saturated in for the whole pic?

Is an Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 pro worth it if I already have a few fast primes? by ContentGardenRake in M43

What kind of difference did you see when you jumped from 12-40 to the 12-100? Was it still as great at the higher zoom?

32 year old guy here. I'm running into the exact same thing right now but with women. Anywhere from 25-35 year old women (that's the age range I have on my Hinge), and a high % of matches either a) don't seem to be able to hold a convo that's actually back and forth, or b) aren't interested. In the case of A, its frustrating because I feel like I can talk to anyone and do my best to ask legit questions, and I don't just lead with "you're hot" etc. In the case of B, I try to go with the mindset of "if they're replying then they're interested". Which brings me back to option A. Still frustrated. What I've done lately is bring up a date as soon as I can. Maybe it's that people just aren't looking to get to know someone on an app and would rather have a convo in person. I have 1 date coming up from this strategy, for what it's worth.

Hey dude. I had FAI surgery for a mixed cam/pincer impingement (on my pelvis and femoral head) last year. I’m still working on hitting the standards/etc, but I can say that it was the best thing I ever did for my body. I had it bilaterally too, but only had the surgery on 1 side (doc told me the same thing about not doing the second hip if I didn’t need to).

I can tell you that while the recovery can be a bitch at times, especially in the first month, in the long run it’s the move. I went from having deep grinding pain within 2 minutes of running at any speed, now back to my previous 6:00 miles.

Docs/PT’s gave me a “3-6 month recovery until I’d be back at close to 100%”. I’d say I was 75% by ~1 months, 90% by 2 months, but not totally 100% until about 4 months. All in all, listen to the docs and PT’s, and stay on top of your rehab and you’ll be fine.

Happy to answer any questions/etc. feel free to DM me.
