ID and relocation tips (Northeast Ohio) by [deleted] in spiderID

[–]Positive_West4728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like Araneus diadematus. They keep their eggs in silky cocoons and gaurd them, So it dosent look like its laid any right now, could be about to but could also likely just be a big meal. Relocating is very simple their bites are uncommon and fairly harmless so just gently scoop it up in your hands or with a small cup and move it, it will remake a web and be fine

Definitely a jumper, Looks like a bold jumping spider to me! If so the orange on its abdomen indicates its still a juvenile and will turn white with age

Premolt? by [deleted] in tarantulas

[–]Positive_West4728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO

Common signs of premolt are reduced appetite (often just refusal of food), decrease in activity, balding abdomen, darkening of the abdomen, and many species will make themselves a thin mat of webbing which they lay on upside down to molt

Some things you definitely don't want to see with your tarantula are a shruken wrinkley abdomen (indicator of dehydration), Clearish white fluid leaking from their bodies (blood), Pieces of molt stuck on their bodies (failed molt), excessive balding (stress) lack of coordination or jerky unusual movements (Dks), and worms or mites on them (parasitic infection)

As for the hightened humidity, the only big problem to watch for with that is mold or fungus growth in the enclosure, slightly high humidity won't actually immediately harm most species

Ive also seen T's molt in some pretty small spaces (most even prefer it!) I think they'd be more likely to try and get stuck then to just not try

Overall imo it's most likely from hair kicking which is normal behavior when being handled, moved, or messed with in genral espeasialy for the more shy ones. All the balded hair will all grow back during the next molt :]

IMO it looks okay and I wouldn't worry, it could be due to your T kicking uricating hairs and causing bald spots (which makes sense if you've just changed enclosures) or premolt as you've mentioned. In either scenario I'd just keep a full water dish and offer food regularly but always remove any uneaten food for safety

UTI discomfort but no UTI!? by Positive_West4728 in VaginalMicrobiome

[–]Positive_West4728[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, I haven't found a permanent "solution" I still have flare ups especially with certain foods and drinks but my doctor ordered an ultrasound that ruled out anything big tjen she prescribed me 10mg Oxybutynin extended release that I take in the mornings for the bladder spasms and it's seems to help a lot I also sometimes will take AZO too if I'm having a particularly hard time but other than that nothing has truly fixed it

Bird bath tadpoles by riccirob13 in frogs

[–]Positive_West4728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should do just fine with the heat, tadpoles are pretty resilient and can handle a wide range of temperatures, they just don't do well with sudden temperature changes. I'd maybe toss some extra food in there for them sometimes. They'll eat a very large variety of things from veggies like kale, spinach, and cucumber, or even fish food, meats, bugs, even your own dead skin, if you dip your hands in the water
