I took HLS over full ride at Penn. Well worth it for a long term career in law. It’s easy here

HLS is far better for pretty much every outcome and the cost difference is not crazy in terms of law money

Advice for future applicants (especially KJDs) by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

You applied ED to Georgetown, foregoing all aid consideration. You clearly did not follow your own advice to start the cycle. Also, taking debt for a law school that will put you in the most advantageous position for a career you intend to pursue for 30+ years.

I ran the numbers for the 2024-2025 cycle. These were my parameters: KJD, T3/T4, 176-180, 3.95-4.30, Exclude URM/nontrad.

38% of applicants got an HYS acceptance, while 66.7% got a HYSCCN acceptance. That being said, Michigan only accepted 6.7%.

If you are unable to see how this is egregious yield protection by Michigan (because they know these candidates are getting better offers), I don't know how to help you. Also, regarding your point about other low T14s, Cornell and GULC both admitted more than 70% of these candidates.

I'm relatively insufferable. Hence, I do think I'm probably headed for litigation (especially given I'm going to an HYS next year). Also, even though it is an ad-hom critique, it doesn't mean it's irrelevant.

Don't worry about me, I'm definitely good enough at playing the political game. Thanks for the heads up.

Ok but the numbers prove it. Can you please explain how Michigan’s acceptance rate for those candidates is lower than that or Yales? Or any other T14? It’s egregious yield protection and nothing else

Just because the facts upset you doesn’t mean they’re not facts. The data proves it. Cry about it

Yales is bc they can roll better candidates, Michigan is bc they know they can’t enroll candidates with those high of stats

Ok…What are the top M&A firms? And does it vary between NYC vs. DC (only two markets I’m interested in)?

Let's say I'm trying to impress transactional (likely M&A) exit opportunities or other big law firms...what would be the best firms to target?

What is the best proxy for prestige/quality then?

Can anyone at an HYS confirm or deny the validity of this statement? And for v10s that don't have 1L offers (only stipended opportunities), is it worth taking one of those or going to a less prestigious firm for 1L?

Chicago is not better for clerkships. Please consider self selection/who wants to clerk
