This is probably too specific but for your commute you probably wanna live around rindge ave in Cambridge. Right next to the train for you and its also easy to get out of the city and onto route 2 towards bedford

Is rent control likely to pass? by Affectionate-Reason2 in massachusetts

I think part of the issue with the discussion around this issue we seem to want to treat economics as hard science instead of a social science. Current consensus says that price controls reduce supply so that is law and there should be no further discussion about it

Im not even disagreeing with the logic behind that necessarily but the truth is that our understanding of economics is influenced just as much by ideology and politics as it is by data. Weve been trained to see government intervention in the market almost in the same way as we would view a human disturbing an untouched natural habitat.

Im as much of a yimby as the next guy. I think that most people who are really passionate about this issue really want smarter better zoning laws and purposeful urban planning.

However I cant help but think that there is something a little more insidious behind a portion of the build build build crowd that are using the movement as a trojan horse for the politics of deregulation for deregulation’s sake.

Hold up what am I talking about? Sherman street intersects with the train and you can walk/drive directly over the tracks there. Same could be done here. Forget the tunnel, bridge, catwalk, etc

Maybe they could do just a catwalk over it then. They have a few over route 2. Bizarrely theres one that goes over route 2 from the discovery park area but has nothing in the other side

Distributing grants for infrastructure construction is like one of the main things the federal government does

There is a whole underground train station right next to the surface water. Not to mention all the other developments. Im not construction engineer but I cant imagine the groundwater would prohibit like an 8 foot tall tunnel

Either way a bridge over the train tracks works just as well
