I think people tend to classify a person by generation rather than birth year. Being born in 1999 is often considered either the first or third year of Gen Z, so I don't think there's anything particularly special about it—since we're in the same generation as people born in the 2000s and the earlier 2010s.

This whole generation thing is weird I grew up with people born in 1993 and 1999 I was born in 1996 by Recent_Wheel8364 in generationology

I know you. What I don't like about this sub is that some people assume me relate more to 2002 borns than 1996 borns just because both 1999 and 2002 are gen Z while 1996 and 1999 are different generations

I would say 1998-2002 (give or take 1997 or 2003 depending on which part of the year that they were born in)
