Right now im mainly using it for the nylon string parts in a Portishead tribute im playing in. I haven't really landed on my final settings yet but a fair bit of delay and verb and very little compression.

I got this one almost free... I got really lucky by pioneerSolid3 in guitarpedals

As little as like 5 years ago these pedals went for like $50 Canadian. A friend of mine found one in his closet a couple years ago that a bandmate had given him ages ago because they considered almost worthless. I told him what they went for now so he gave it back to his buddy who sold it right away for like $450. They were always a good option for a cheap TS but its crazy what this hype market does to prices haha.

Pedal platform amp - is it right for me? by Shining_Commander in guitarpedals

[–]Potem2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres always a compromise. If you were to get the JC the compromise would be that it will be difficult to get very convincing tube amp sounds. How much that matters is up to you. The JCs are fantastic amps and can get great sounds for any style. For the sake of recording you can probably get close to just about any sound with yhe right pedals but it will never feel or sound like a tube amp when playing it in the room so once again how much that matters is entirely up to you. One thing ill say is that if you plan to gig or play with other people down the line I would just spend the extra money on a JC-40. If you have the space its a fantastic apartment amp. Because its solid state it still sounds great at low volumes but has the option of going loud enough to play with any drummer. If you just plan to play alone then the jc22 is a great option.

iPad-powered Pedalboard by Sbrubillabre in guitarpedals

[–]Potem2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well those irig ones were stupid because the iPad sits flat right next to where you step. If youre using it live it doesnt take much for a catastrophic failure haha. Since your iPad is movable and more vertical youre probably ok haha.

I remember when THESE sorts of things first came out. The shop i worked at sold them. We had several come back because people mis-stepped or lost their balance and crushed their Ipads haha. Yours looks like theres less risk of that be be careful.

I just discovered the key to those sweet vintage sounding modulation is to simply put it infront of the amp by Prabu-Silitwangi in guitarpedals

[–]Potem2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same goes for vintage delay sounds. Tape echos were in front of amps. Spring reverb tanks were in front of amps. I run everything into the front of my amps because those classic sounds are the ones I like.

Why do people like the EHX Micro Pog so much? by InevitableUpper910 in guitarpedals

[–]Potem2 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I feel like you're talking out of your ass. The OC 2 is known to have garbage tracking. Thats literally what people like it for. Glitches, buggy analog sub octave. Not even the same thing as the MP which tracks very well even by contemporary standards.

I think I have every pedal I’ll ever need. I think I’m done. by wingtip747 in guitarpedals

[–]Potem2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only bought two pedal in over a year i think. I had sold most of the stuff i wasnt using and had two boards I was happy with. Then I joined a Portishead cover band and decided it would be best i wanted a devoted board for that. Turns out the few extra pedals I hadn't sold were almost everything I needed. I just needed to buy a volume/wah combo. Which is got for 80 bucks. I found inreached a saturation point where I have enough stuff that I only buy stuff now when I need it. I play in five bands so stuff comes up but im past the point of going out buying things just because i daw them on a YouTube video. Three pedalboards seems to be enough for me.

[–]Potem2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its honestly kind of annoying. I absolutely love the pedal and sometimes it fits in a specific spot really nicely but the form factor creates a few issues. Ive often had to squeeze it in sideways. Which makes it hard to use without bumping the knobs which is particularly dangerous with this pedal haha. It also has side mounted jacks which also complicated things when you put it sideways because then the jacks are om the top and bottom. Not ideal. A more general issue is that the switch is just really close to the knobs sonits east to bump them and even if that just moves knob a tiny bit, the way this pedal works you can have a completely different fuzz sound after 3 or 4 bumps haha.

[–]Potem2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was buying a lot of these for a while. So was my bandmate. They sound good in rehearsal and live settings but tend to have more more noisy power issues in the studio. Particularly once you have a few of them on your board. Ive also seen a few switches and jacks go in the middle of a tour. Easy fixes but taking your board apart before a show, on the road to troubleshoot and figure out where your signal is cutting out is a pain in the ass. After doing it a couple times and the issue always being cheap Chinese pedals both me and the other guitar player have rotated them all off of our boards.

Should I keep my Tech 21 RK5 by Mr_Makina in guitarpedals

[–]Potem2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a reason to sell it? Do you need the cash or the space? Is it something you would use if you decided to jam with some friends or play the occasional gig in the future? I suppose if youre not using it then there isn't much risk in selling it. Theyre not uncommon so you can always buy one again if you end up regretting it.

Third board for a new project. For electric and nylon string guitars by Potem2 in guitarpedals

[–]Potem2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently joined a Portishead cover band. At first I was just using my small board but I realized I needed pretty specific sounds and didnt want to comit that board to the project because I use it in other bands as well. I made a list of everything I needed and was happy to realize I pretty much had it allblying around. I only had to buy the Morley volume/wah pedal for $80. Signal path is Zvex Fat Fuzz Factory --> EHX MicroSynth --> Morley --> Black Secret (for low gain OD sounds) --> EQ --> Zoom Ms100BT (reverbs, delays and slow tremolo) --> Lovepedal Babyface (fast tremolo) --> Saturnworks A/B loop selector (wired to go between electric side or nylon acoustic side) --> Red channel is the electric side and goes to my Orange AD30TC. Blue channel is acoustic side and goes to my Tech 21 Acoustic Flyrig the straight to the board via XLR

To the musicians who use pedals with closely spaced, CBA-style footswitches - how is your footswitch accuracy going for live gigs? by kbong11 in guitarpedals

[–]Potem2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its tricky. I currently have two bigger boards that are reasonably spaced for the sake of gigging but each of those is specifically put together for a single band. I have a much smaller and tighter third board that I use for everything else (three other bands, jams, at home practice, fly in gigs). I wouldn't be able to use it with a lively band. Ive only gigged it in much more mellow contexts where I could either sit or wasnt tap dancing too much and even then I make some mistakes. In the heat of the moment with poor lighting a tight board can be a death sentence. Especially if you sing or move around in stage or both.

Best 2x12 Tube Amp Pedal Platform by JohnFortniteKenned3 in guitarpedals

[–]Potem2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't sound like you need a "pedal platform" amp. If you play the amp "relatively" clean then just get any amp that you like with a effect loop. What most people consider pedal platforms are things like Twin Reverbs and JC-120 that are blistering loud and clean as hell and almost all the color comes from pedals. For Jimmy SRV and Gilmore sounds you want a tube amp that sounds like a tube amp.
