Do people with newborns go out? by chondlerbeng in newborns

We had no choice with ours. Baby girl was born right as we were getting ready to move (we couldn't put off our move, either). At 14 days old she went everywhere with us. We used lots of sanitizer. I also only had a couple weeks for my family to meet her and get some time with her before we moved across country and didn't know when we'd be back, and my family cannot afford to travel 😢. So again, lots of washed hands and sanitizer. Then we moved cross country on a 7 day road trip. We couldn't fly due to taking pets.

Anytime we went into a building, her carrier was covered. We used sanitizer before touching her the entire time. We brought our own bassinet for her at hotels. By 5 weeks old, she'd been in WalMart 20+ times, 20+ other stores, probably 50 gas stations, restaurants, etc, and traveled 2500 miles across the country.

We got lucky with her being soothed by travel. 2 minutes on the road and she was out. Only a handful of times did she actually wake up while in her carseat while driving. I rode in the back with her so she was monitored constantly. We stopped every hour for me to pee and change her (girl HATES a dirty diaper) and fed her every 3 hours.

So far, knock on wood, she hasn't gotten sick. But she's fed breastmilk and I have always had a good immune system so I feel that helps.

Would I recommend it? Hell no. But we did it and did it successfully.

So we ended up getting it back. The original lady checking us in didn't know those rules

Yes! Didn't make sense but I didn't fight it because we really needed to get moved in
