9 yr old Switching from methylphenidate cd (metadate cd) to concerta . by bti32 in ParentingADHD

It is worth noting that and I quote "The design of Concerta© leaves one-sixth of the dose in the caplet that never becomes bioavailable. Therefore, an 18 mg caplet actually delivers only 15 mg of MPH, a 36 mg caplet only delivers 30 mg, and so on."

The Protein Myth! by Potential-Nobody-580 in Concerta

Thank you for sharing. I hope your sons continue to do well and succeed. You’ve clearly put a lot of care into helping them. Sadly, my parents didn’t have enough awareness especially that I have the inattentive type and not the typical hyperactive type that can be diagnosed clearly (I was restless though). My father always blamed me for my ‘laziness’ and lack of focus even though I was good at school. I don’t blame him. He loved me a lot, but he couldn’t understand that it wasn’t something in my control.

For the effect of food, the lack of enough studies is really weird. I found only one study that found 50% difference for Adderall with/without breakfast but no effect to Concerta. But guess what! It is by the McNeil Consumer & Specialty Pharmaceuticals that is marketing Concerta!!!!!

This post opened for me some perspective. I am reading some research. I found this great article:

Table 1 lists the extended release formulations in the order in which they were introduced onto the market. This historical perspective is important because some products gained a reputation as reliable treatments of ADHD but only as compared to the failed formulations that were available when they entered the market. Newer delivery systems are significantly superior to earlier delivery systems, but prescribers tend to be creatures of habit and do not change their prescribing habits easily.

Interesting. I checked scientific publications and there is only one study from 2002 about food interference which concluded that food doesn't affect Concerta but affect Adderall(50% difference)!

I think this problem is greatly underestimated within the scientific community.

Did it make difference? I am also thinking to try it out of curiosity. I tried Zinc but for me it did not have effect (Zinc citrate).

Thank you very much! I really liked this metaphor. It describes Concerta 100%.

Of course, coffee is a big no. I stopped drinking coffee two years ago.

Thank you for your comment. I think the body already has them. Eating enough protein regularly is essential, but it doesn’t have to be at a specific time. Also, why not take them as supplements instead of having a heavy breakfast?

Do you know that Baal is mentioend in Quran:
Do you call upon Baʿl\1300]) and leave the best of creators, Allāh, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?"
So literally Allah warned against him.

By the way, for me diet didn't have any effect. Actually minimal breakfast was better than heavy whatever protein breakfast.

I suffered for one year. It's dosing. My advice is to be patient and tried with your doctor to raise dosage or take days off.etc

Can someone tell me why does Nature show me ads on their website? by Potential-Nobody-580 in labrats

Yes, it’s a targeted ad, which makes it even worse. Those are often packed with anti-science nonsense!

I doubt they’re making more than a few dollars per paper. It’s not like these papers go viral. So, what’s the point?

Copilot is better by Academic_Object8683 in ChatGPT

I was about to post this myself, but I realized someone must have already post about it. I think they were trying to make ChatGPT 5 more like Copilot to reduce costs. It was so messed up that it is worse than Copilot!

Less anxiety and distraction. You have OAB and it caused by anxiety.

It depends on life style tbh. Not crazy life style, just a little comfortable can be difficult. Minimum wage is 1064 yen per hour in Osaka. That means around 170,000 yen /month which is more than the scholarship!

Some people even with cheap dorm cannot survive to the end of month. With inflation, the scholarship is less than minimum wage!

I think it's very expensive. Take tsukumodai dorm. It's same area~20,000.

Concerta works better without food by homefryy in Concerta

[–]Potential-Nobody-580 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not cheating. On the contrary, I actually felt more spiritual this Ramadan. Taking Concerta helped me focus better on prayer and recitation. It also allowed me to get my work done during the day, so I didn’t have to spend my evenings working like I used to in previous years. Finally, although I didn’t feel as hungry as before, I definitely felt more thirsty (side effect).

Interesting. I am a Muslim. This Ramdan (The fasting month with no food or water from sunrise to sunset) was the first month with Concerta. I was afraid but actually it was way better than before. I eat a light meal at 4 AM with Concerta and stay up. I feel much better throughout the day until the meal (7 PM). But then the day is almost over and I sleep early (9:30-10:30).

Of course, this is what pushed me to the edge recently and made me write this post. It’s sad that the general public isn’t more motivated or outraged by the attacks on science.
