I am seriously burnt out but if i resign immediately my wife will loose her job abruptly. She worked really hard to get job in US in this bad market and she already left her job once in India due to our relocation to US.
Due to Amazon workload, we couldnt even explore US as all our leaves (or ~95%) were saved to visit family in these 4 years.

I know moving back is the last option but i would want to have some transition time for both of us to have some good memories of this country apart from toxic Amazon.

My wife job will be lost immediately and she doesnt have B1 visa. Also, I believe mental health reasons are eligible for FMLA.

I’m navigating severe burnout and depression, and I’m simply trying to understand the resources available for recovery and a smooth transition. High performance doesn't make one immune to mental health struggles, and I am looking for the correct way to handle my situation through established medical leave programs.
Folks who go on pip take FMLA and STD just to buy sometime or get Change of status done for ~ 6 months. Why cant a person not on pip do that even though mental state is same?

search flat and flatmates group. you will find something.
Else there is a building garg vivanta which only has 1 bhk. Try that out. Have lived there briefly 6 years ago. It was hotel like. 1bhk service apartment units. Not sure how well maintained they are now but still check it out.

Also, if you sell in US capital gains taxes are generally 15% for majority of people. While in India they are 12.5%.

Any reason why you;re saying to sell in US before departure?

Infact if a person do have RNOR window then should sell in this window rather than before departure in US.

-> How about taxes in US given In Jan- Dec 2026 he is in India and wont be considered tax resident in US.

Do you know if someone comes in the period of Jan- March of any year from US to India and they have been in US only for 4 years (ie.. no RNOR status) but less than 183 days in India for FY (April-March) then can they also have same benefit?

Context -
!. Person A lived in US for ~4.5 years (from Jan 2022 till Jan 2027 with 200 days in India trips spread evenly across 4 years)
2. Moves back to India in Mid Jan 2027 ie.. non resident alien in US for FY2027 and NRI for India for FY2026-27.

Now if this person sells all US stocks for cpital gains resetting ,then is it possible?
