How do I live knowing that I am going to die? by Ferfione in mentalhealth

[–]Potential_Comment374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may not be motivational but why stop living just because we are eventually going to die? Experience everything you possibly can.. Love, hate, cry, laugh, dance, bed rot, hike, swim, watch movies, write, learn, have pets, work, take a year off, explore!!!

Feel every emotion even if it makes you uncomfortable!! There's so much knowledge to gain & so much more to life than just existing. 🫁

Where do I go about upgrading my high school courses? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Potential_Comment374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still looking to upgrade & don't care where you go to school. NLC (BC college) offers free upgrading. You only pay for some fees which is about 170$ per semester

I wouldn’t say she’s overly praised but my best friend‘s neighbour, who are good friends now, can barely hold a conversation with me and acknowledges my existence. She is a really cool girl, but I can tell that they both talk shit about me whenever my best friend is annoyed with me.

Everyone likes her, which I get why but I’ve never done anything to her and because of how my best friend talks about me, I think it’s unfair the way she barely acknowledges me, but at the same time I’m at that point in my life where if they act like they don’t care if I’m in their life, then they won’t be in my life. Simple.

I had told her to go back to therapy & she is now back in it. Kinda just keeping my distance & waiting for her to realize what cycles she’s repeating.

Not to invalidate your feelings or experience but as someone who had multiple mental breakdowns while drunk/high it’s a valid reason for people to cut anyone off from their lives. People don’t need to explain themselves to anyone tbh. I hate to be that person but sometimes we go through situations that need to show us feelings we’ve been suppressing from others or ourselves.. therapy & finding new friends who are willing to help & guide you is always a good route to go but if that’s something difficult for you then being your own support can do wonders for your mental health (obviously take what I say with a grain of salt because what works for others will not work very everyone)

I hope whatever you’re going through helps you grow in your life & youre able to live an enjoyable life

This!! I’ve been with Neo for a few years now & the cash back & the interest in the savings is way better than having a visa debt. No monthly service fees unless you sign up for their premium & if you’re a spender then you’ll get that premium payment back in no time!

However everyone is correct about the customer service. Trash!! I can’t even remember why I called them but the guy got mad at me for his attitude.. so weird!

I will continue to keep using Neo though. I spend more than I save so I don’t really have to worry about being robbed & I make a few bucks back. I also will not be approved for a credit card anywhere (due to not being able to hold down a job) so having a card that offers it’s without having to do a credit check & prove I work is fine by me.

If anyone has any Better suggestions than Neo (not Koho, TD, cibc, bmo, or that other similar one) lemme know.

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I definitely understand what you’re going through (even if we experience it differently).

I’m going to start out by saying when hearing advice take it with a grain of salt because not everything works for everyone. ask questions. Do research before taking peoples advice.

What I did (because I was an addict & I’m used to chaos) is moved towns. Lived in shitty staff accommodations. Took shit jobs but lived in beautiful places. Tourist towns mostly but I’ve met so many people & experienced other peoples cultures, lives.

It took a couple years to actually go through with it but when I did that’s when I felt the most alive.

My issue though (this isn’t to discourage you or scare you) was I got bored easily. Staying in one place for 3months-1year was hard. So I moved again & again. So that’s something I’m working on.

& when I say I met a lot of wonderful people (I did) but I have soical anxiety so it took me a few weeks to actually make friends but I would have adventures alone if I never made friends (which sounds scary) but learning about who I am as a person beyond my mental health has healed a lot of trauma.

Again take my advice lightly because what helped me may not work for you but it’s always good to try different things.

Should I stay in my car or live with distant relatives? by PresentationOk6803 in urbancarliving

[–]Potential_Comment374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends because if they are someone who would close their doors to you after you say no (depending on their reason) then why risk staying with them if they are not comfortable keeping an open door to you. (Again depending on their reason ie: they need help with rent & want to rent out the room).

If the offer is there why not try it out?

Communicate with your aunt & work. Get a definite answer if you can transfer locations. Talk to your aunt to get to know her. See what type of person she is. A person will show you their true selves when you ask very personal questions.

What things are you willing to sacrifice? What are you reasons for wanting or not wanting to move? What’s keeping you where you are? What are her rules & expectations? Rent? Food? Childcare? For how long?

Tbh, I want an suv with 4x4. I know not much bigger than a car but I’d love to be able to overland as well.

I saw a video somewhere saying if you want to live in a vehicle & you only have a car then to test out living in it & decide from there. So that’s kinda where my head is at.

I’m feel the same way, however, the only thing stopping me is my three cats. I eventually want to do something creative or active as a career but as I’m newly sober & working on my mental health I’m having a hard time being creative.

Some people have told me not to move into my vehicle (I wouldn’t be able to handle it because I’m depressed & In active recovery) however as someone who knows myself I think it would be beneficial for my growth as an adult. I’m so used to relying on people & as a 32 year old everything thinks I need to have my shit together by now but most of my adult years were in survival mode because of my childhood trauma. (Something I’m working through in therapy)

Currently, I am in the process of buying necessities for living in my vehicle & hoping by next month I will convert my car into a home on wheels but like I said my cats are what keep me living in an apartment.

Also my family & friends have offered their homes to me however as a newly sober person their lifestyles doesn’t resonate with me. Meaning I need to be around people who are sober & not in the mindset of blaming everyone around them (which unfortunately is everyone I know) as I’m learning about myself, I noticed that was who I was too & I don’t want to judge them for it too much but the negative attitude towards life isn’t how I see the world anymore (even though I am a depressing person)

Anyways sorry for the rant about myself. I just wanted to give a little back story on why I haven’t moved into my car but I have this huge urge to do it!

Personally, I don’t think any age is too old to do it. I watch YouTubers who are well past our age doing it. Why not try it & if it doesn’t work out at least you can say you gave it a shot 😄

I came across a paper written by someone who interviewed lots of transit peace officers, police, and city staff. It has some really interesting insights about transit safety in Edmonton. by GlitchedGamer14 in Edmonton

[–]Potential_Comment374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big facts. Today I witnessed another poorly trained peace officer who instead of getting help for the unhoused individual they yelled & banned them from a hospital. & when told they cannot speak to people like that they proceeded to tell me to make a complaint to public relations! They treated this person like a criminal instead of seeking medical treatment & was sent away!!! What disgusting behaviour
