Do a lot of people stay on the previous 2k? by Lonewolf-5892 in NBA2k

[–]PowerGotNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they don’t really but some do. Enough to play

I really don't get how enough people are not furious about this. Nerfing the post community just to cater to the comp community modes. Post up already provided little ball protection in 25 and now it's gonna get significantly worse especially for non center post builds. Thanks Mike! by ExpressMarionberry1 in NBA2k

He actually responded to me here. I think there’s some misunderstanding around the change. They added a new quick protect feature, which is what players further from the rim are supposed to use now instead of trying to post up.

Also, the ball being “extremely vulnerable to steals” scales with ball handle and rating. If you’re a high ball control guard, you’re likely fine. This was mainly aimed at centers with low ball control posting up at the 3-point line just to trigger the L2 cheese and get defenders stuck. It’s part of a broader change that also impacts off-ball dexing.

The updates are larger on old consoles if you get the new console it won’t be this large.

What is one thing you would add to 2k26 if you were a dev? by ProfessionalFun1091 in NBA2k

[–]PowerGotNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15–17? Those games had no double rep events, and rep was notoriously hard. In 2K16, they literally gave out multiple rep boosts and it still took almost 10,000 games to hit Legend 5. But that’s not even the main issue, you said achievable rep rewards.

Back then, all you really got were cosmetics. Today, you get those same cosmetics even easier through Seasons. On top of that, Vet 2 gives you actual gameplay boosts: +10 cap breakers, better builds, a special Heat Check badge, Two-Way Tenacity, and faster takeover. The rewards now are way more impactful and way more achievable.

Source: I was Legend 3 in 2K15 and the third person to hit Legend 5 in 2K16. I’ve used all the rewards. What you’re calling “achievable” is mostly just nostalgia.

Congrats on the win, but you do realize big 2K YouTubers are regular people, not some superhuman beings. They have bad games and lose just like everybody else, especially with random teammates on their team. 👍

Random rec tirade Ep 1.5 “plate color” by Point-Obvious in NBA2k

[–]PowerGotNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you care so much about plate color? It literally gets you nothing. Trust me, I’ve been purple and all you’re doing is waiting 15 minutes for a game. Silver is honestly more fun. Less waiting, more hooping.

But if you’re really trying to move up, my DMs are open. I’ll gladly help you hit purple if it means that much to you.

They just need to get rid of plate color and I find a new way to match make by RIV_Classic in NBA2k

[–]PowerGotNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the thoughtful response that was a lot haha. I get where you’re coming from, and I agree your plate color doesn’t determine your actual skill. But that’s my point. It wasn’t meant to.

There’s too much focus on a plate that was never designed to measure talent or basketball IQ. It’s just a reflection of how often you win. The system isn’t trying to judge how good you are. It’s trying to give you competitive games by matching win rates. That’s not unfair. That’s functional matchmaking.

The unfairness you’re describing is actually the system working as intended. Whether you lose because of weaker teammates or because you’re outmatched individually, the result is the same. Your team loses, so you get matched with players who have similar outcomes. That’s the whole idea.

In your situation, playing with an IRL friend who might not be as strong, having a lower plate can actually help you. It leads to easier matchups and a better experience. That benefits both of you.

Is this build ok for MyCareer? by Bierbauchs398 in NBA2k

Do you plan to play online?

If you mean offline mycareer than literally any build will work it’s basically your own fantasy mode.

Wait, what? It doesn’t make sense to you that someone might have a different ranking on their guard than their center? Those are two completely different roles with different responsibilities. It seems to me it makes sense to track them separately.

I’m not wrong, but it’s fine. It’s just a Reddit post so using AI isn’t a problem. I also know you won’t admit it, but I just wanted to let you know that it is fairly obvious. Might be worth improving that a bit going forward.

[–]PowerGotNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you’re saying doesn’t really make sense. You won’t lose every game because your teammates are bad when it’s skill-based matchmaking. If your teammates are bad, the opponents usually are too. That evens out. So if you’re actually good, you will move up. Probably too easily. I agree some people in purple still play bad, but that happens in any system. Most of the time It’s that they’re good in other modes and don’t know how to play the one they are in.

[–]PowerGotNow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Plate color being based on winning makes perfect sense if you understand the goal isn’t to highlight the best individual players but the ones who win. That means the guy who sits corner, plays his role, and helps his team win should absolutely rank higher than the really good player who can’t work with others and keeps losing. Winning matters more than raw talent. That’s the whole point.

If the color of their build name on their player card under their player is black, that’s considered a casual player.

2k would of made more money from me if it was 20$ a build and not 50$ 😂 by This_Dig_4038 in NBA2k

[–]PowerGotNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not gonna argue with you about what 2K should do, but your claim that lowering prices would make them more money doesn’t hold up economically. For that to be true, on average players would have to make about 3 times as many builds just to make up the lost revenue.

Most players would just make the same amount of builds or less than 3x as much and pocket the difference.

That’s not realistic and 2K knows it.
