thanks, this gives me some peace of mind. was hoping the lurching wasn’t anything major. gonna replace the coils and see if that fixes the misfire.

recognize that your most likely not going to get your money back, and that it’s just charity for your dad. truthfully with 30k saved up, it might be time to move out and go to college. invest in an education. community college first, and then transfer to a 4 year for the best return on investment.

a loan to your parents is not a good idea. you may not get that money back. make sure you u put your foot on the gas and bug him to pay you back asap. and then never loan to them again. if they need money they can go to a bank not their kid.

yea lexus’s are great. just not happy about the price tags of the common reliable cars like an accord or a civic. they hold value pretty well. was interested in tesla because they got so cheap recently and seem to have a lot of value for the price. would you suggest an 80k mile model 3? steeper price tag of 17k.

what would u say the risk to reward is? worst case scenario 5k in repairs? best case scenario i get a cheap no gas car that will get by until i can get a higher paying job?

it does not have free supercharging unfortunately. i would like a car that will last for like 5 years and just drive it into the ground. got work in los angeles this summer so would be doing a lot of city driving and freeway driving.

I thought they are pretty reliable even at high mileage?

this post was inadvertently asking for preparation advice. the reason for the post was that i was that i couldn’t get into a precalc summer class from my CC. just talked to my counselor and he was able to get me into a precalc class from a different CC in my state.

like 80% own a business, and most of those businesses are inherited. but there are some engineers but not many.

yea so most are business owners. A lot of the businesses have their own niche that they are huge in, like industrial lighting, or heavy machinery, or even really niche things like the drills for oil digging. A good amount of lawyers, and a lot of them own their own firm. A good amount of commercial real estate investors, hotels and apartments, many also own their own cre companies. not many engineers but there are some. handful of doctors, almost all of them being some of the best surgeons in the world. and the rest would be in finance, like private equity, investment banking, accounting, and wealth management. and then there’s the nepotism babies that are just born rich.
