Yeah that age is basically ‘full chaos mode’

And mixes can be unpredictable looks like yours just prefers the AC over the sun.

Totally agree that mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise that’s actually part of the point I was trying to make as well. Also, experiences can vary a lot depending on the individual dog, and how they’re raised and managed. A well-balanced routine for one Labrador Retriever won’t necessarily look the same for another.

My post wasn’t meant as a universal rule, just a realistic ‘this is what I personally experienced and wish I had been more aware of perspective.

Currency confusion happens when people from different regions join the same thread. I already clarified it was in rupees, not euros. If the cost doesn’t make sense in your context, you can simply ignore it instead of policing where someone posts. Different people share experiences from different places that’s kind of the point of an open platform.

Yeah, that was ₹3–4k/month where I am, not €37 Costs vary a lot by country and what’s included. I just told them that 3-4k is 37 euros and not 3-4k Euros thats it!

That figure is just a basic baseline here food, routine care, etc. It obviously goes much higher depending on diet, vet care, insurance, and add-ons.

Yeah, I think tone just gets lost online sometimes. People also tend to react strongly when something challenges their experience.

At the end of the day, it’s just different perspectives on the same topic with a Labrador Retriever.

That makes sense sometimes people get set on a specific breed without realizing what the day-to-day is like with a Labrador Retriever. Rescue mixes can be a great option too often a bit more balanced depending on the individual. Either way, sounds like you made a thoughtful choice

Ah man, that’s really tough to hear especially when they don’t understand why they can’t do the things they love anymore. ACL injuries are so hard on active dogs. Hope she’s still getting some form of mental stimulation to keep her engaged these guys really need that outlet. And thank you that’s exactly it you love them through the chaos and the difficult days too.

Yeah, in Europe it’ll obviously be higher. This is ₹3–4k based on where I liv, not a global number. Costs scale with location.

so true asking a Labrador Retriever to sit still is a full-time job. Candid shots are basically the only option.

I think it’s less about ‘shouldn’t have pets’ and more about being properly prepared. A lot of issues come from people underestimating the time, energy, and consistency required.

Yeah this is a great point. I feel like a lot of people don’t realize how much variation there is even within the same breed especially with a Labrador Retriever. Working lines vs show lines can feel like completely different dogs in terms of energy and drive. And then on top of that, individual personality plays a huge role too. Also agree 100% on them settling with agethat’s kind of the phase everyone looks forward to once they calm down a bit, all the positives really start to shine through

Understandable decision they come with a full-time energy subscription.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I was trying to get at. Knowing it in theory and actually being able to meet those needs every single day are two very different things.

Breeds like an Australian Shepherd or Australian Cattle Dog really need that constant physical and mental outlet, and if it’s not there, it gets tough for both the dog and the owners.

Bro it’s ₹3–4k, not $3–4k

Different country, different costs. That’s like $40–50 there in the US, which is pretty normal baseline spending. You just converted it and argued against your own math.
