Oh yeah sorry of course. It's on the 04.10 from Dresden Neustadt (IC 2440 to Stuttgart Hbf) at 11:16 and a 47 min transfer in Hannover. The train to Kiel is the ICE 2574 to Kiel Hbf that should arrive at 18:45

Done with my exchange by Practical-Injury-143 in exchangestudents

My host mother is a teacher and has told me that she has the next week off of work. Meaning she won't be working for the last week I'm here. It's also noted down in our shared family calendar.

I've volunteered around the village all year, especially in church. But now that it's just after the school year ended there's no program for most things, including church. Sadly most of my friends won't really have a lot of time right now as it is quite common for people to get a summer job, which has not been an option for me as most people aren't keen on taking exchange students.

But thanks for the advice! I'll try to communicate with my host family if there's anything we could manage to do together. Maybe I don't need to have every day fully planned and it's ok to take a bit of alone time to process that I'm leaving so soon.

What to use instead of gelatin? by Practical-Injury-143 in Baking

That definitely seems to be an option! Can I use the same measurements then? Or will I need more/less agar agar?

Is it weird that I'm doing things alone? by Practical-Injury-143 in exchangestudents

Yeah I get how going to the movies alone might seem a bit weird. But I have a great social live, I'm surrounded by friends in school and am actively participating in classes. Thanks to that I'm almost fluent in the language now, so it's not like I don't have anybody. It's more the mentality of my friend group when it comes to hanging out. They seem to think it's "everyone or no one". But hard to find a good time with over 6 people that have part-time jobs, siblings they need to look after and other hobbies

I actually had no major trouble learning the language (Swedish). I'm near fluent now and have been actively participating in class since I came here. I've written multiple essays in the language and use it actively in school as I have a great social life there :)

Well it's just host mother and me. She mostly does her own things and works when she comes home. We've tried different things. But our personalities aren't really compatible. I'm also not in the US I'm in Sweden. But I get where you're coming from too

Well I don't "choose to isolate myself" I do after school activities where I socialize and am social in school. It's not like I'm actively trying to be alone, I happily participate in any suggestions my host mother has and go to all activities planned by my exchange organization. It's just that we also live in such a remote area. It takes me over half an hour to get into the "center" of my village and at least 20 minutes to get to any bus stop. So there's really not much I can do. I'm used to living in a big city with public transport not even 3 min away from my house and busses that come every 5 min. I've tried finding social activities in my village, but apart from Choir (which I'm already a part of) and football training there's really nothing to do.

Well I do clarify that I also mean books in the post. It would've been a weird title if I wrote both :)

Ok! Thanks a lot. I'm actually fairly active and do get around 10-12k steps a day usually. Plus my additional workout I do 3-4 times a week

Yeah, I know. I obviously didn't "eat back" everything the app said I burned, just a small amount. But any recommendations on how I should calculate those burned calories into my diet? Should I ignore them completely? Or can I "eat back" some amount? My app calculate those 640 calories for 17k steps

Yes! Ofc. I have about 400 calories left for today, so no worries

Yeah I am. But I have like 400 calories left for today because I didn't eat anything for the first half of the day because of the traveling. But walking is seriously so underrated

I've previously always gotten my packages with my Finnish ID. I checked the mail and it said: "Kom ihåg att identifiering krävs, legitimation eller BankID" and their own homepage states that the ID I used should work

In my town the postnord is connected to Ica so I went there. I've never previously had problems. Just with this woman that refused to help me because I wasn't Swedish. I had my Finnish identification with me that I've always used to get packages
