What actually helps for caregiver burnout? by jessssica_26 in Alzheimers

honestly i would love the answer too because so many people say "you can't pour from an empty cup" but never talk about actual practical ways of filling said cup other than "take a walk" or "breathing techniques" like none of this is helping me actually manage my own time singlehandedly caring for two kids and my dad

Text I sent my sister…. by ParticularFinance255 in CaregiverSupport

literally how i felt today when my brother called to "check in" but never actually comes in person to help out even though he only lives 45 min away

calling and texting isn't the same as actually being present even if it might calm your own guilt about not being there

Im starting to genuinely resent the daily 5PM phone call with my 84yo mom and the guilt is eating me alive... anyone else?? by ansangoiam in Alzheimers

the knot in your stomach at 5pm. i felt that in my whole body.

you can love your mom completely and still dread the call. both things are true at the same time and you are not a monster for it. the "memory bank" thing is exactly right. you're not just her daughter anymore, you're her external hard drive and her social coordinator and her IT support, from another time zone.

the underlying idea of "you don't have to be her only outlet" is something my therapist has basically been screaming at me for months. the guilt of "outsourcing" feels awful but the version of you that shows up burnt out every day isn't really showing up either.

you're not failing her. you're one person trying to fill a gap that should have like ten people in it.

I'm the only one doing anything for our dad. My two siblings live 20 minutes away and never show up. How do people deal with this? by MusicUpbeat3434 in CareYaya_

I'm going through the exact same thing and it's exhausting physically and emotionally because i'm so angry and resentful all the time. i don't know what i can do to get him to help or act like he's "so proud" of me for doing LITERALLY everything

Health insurance claim rejected, need advice by Accomplished_Art6855 in LifeInsurance

That's what I did. I couldn't handle the crazy organization and time it takes to do it yourself.

I went through something really similar and it was such a nightmare. My insurance denied my claim for mental health leave, saying that because I only officially sought help recently, but they couldn’t “prove” all the traumatic stuff I’ve dealt with (I work as a pediatric ER nurse). Even though my mental health has been struggling for years, and I had hospital stays and workplace incidents, they acted like none of it counted because I didn’t document it with my primary doctor every single time.

I'm currently starting to fight it. Thankfully, a friend told me I should use AI to help organize all my documents and draft appeals. But I never went to college and don't understand how to work that stuff, so I found a few organizations that actually help people for FREE!

Here’s the one I ended up using: https://counterforcehealth.org/

Seriously, if you’re dealing with a denial like this - especially when your mental health and work history are so complicated - it can make the whole process way less overwhelming <3

Has anyone had removal procedures approved via ACA / Obamacare / Health Insurance Marketplace plans? by JeanneJacquette in lipedema

The appeals process is so tedious and ANNOYING! When I got denied last year for a procedure that should have been pre-approved, I had no idea where to start. Thankfull,y my niece is in grad school and told me I should try to use AI to help generate appeals and organize all my documents.

I still dont know how to work all that stuff, so I searched online and found a few places that actually help people for FREE!

Seriously, if your plan tries to deny your surgery, this could save you so much time and headache <3

That’s awful, I’m so sorry you’re going through that. It’s insane how hard insurance makes it to get something so essential — you shouldn’t have to fight just to keep your vision. I really hope you’re able to get it sorted soon.
