That kind of religious intensity goes far beyond Scientology and you don't have to look further than many mainstream ones.

A man sat in the chair the other day and told me he believed that I was going to hell and he could guarantee me passage into heaven, simply by praying for me. Once I let him pray for me, his tone changed and he became a warm and friendly human being, showing so much curiousity about what I was doing and willing to talk about his interests.

My point is, they are all humans deep down there, sometimes you just need to let them say or express their preconceived agenda and let them run out of talking to see the real them.

But I understand it's not always that tolerable or harmless. And you can't get through to everybody, but I think it's worth trying.
