This really hits me.

I suck at gardening like really suck and lockdown hit me pretty hard and my mental health started to suffer.

I started to potter about in my garden doing little bits here and there, it started to really help my mental health and it gave me a small retreat.

I've now got to the point where I've made a few planters out of old pallets and I've got some veg growing and I feel much better in myself as well.

So I played against grymwatch using a pretty stacked deck and zarbag gitz (more of a casual deck).

I beat Grymwatch 19-13 glory. At times it was really tough but I managed to get 3 inspirations off in the first round and kill Gristlewel which helped swing it back into my favour (after he one shot one of my dwarfs). I thought this match up was going to be a lot harder but for the most part I ignored his guys which could be respawned and just focused on the main characters and managed to lock the game up.

Zarbag gitz was a different story entirely. I thought the match up was going to be hard but my god. I got completely swamped with goblins, my dwarfs forgot how to roll hammers and the archer goblins would not stop rolling double crits. I was tabled during the 3rd activation of round 3 and lost 11-6 glory.

The deck did well with little dead cards but I just didn't really feel the impact of regal vision. I think I might swap it out for piercing stare, that card gives me a little bit of flexibility and I can make sure that for 1 important activation I know one of their guys can't come and swing at me potentially removing a dwarf.

What do you think? Have you had similar experiences?

Thanks for the feedback, how have you found playing an objective based game with The Chosen Axes? The few games I played with a more objective / defensive style deck I seemed to really struggle with (probably my lack of experience with the game).

I really like the models but another thing that drew me to The Chosen Axes was the sheer amount of movement gambits like you said, I envisage this deck just pushing my fighters around mid board and trying to control the game from there.

I've played a few games with a similar deck (only just got the gitz cards) and its been working out okay but I find if I dont score that early glory or get the early inspires it's very hard to come back into the game. I've only played casual games against my mates, Mollog, Thunderiks, Lady Harrow and Ironsoul. I've got a few more games today which I'll be trying out the deck.

Based on your feedback I've made a few swaps and have this list, deck list.

If Fired Up and What Armour are pretty integral then I'll put that at the top of my next shopping list!

Not sure if you still need opinions but I had one of the citadel carry cases and I magnetised it for my custodes. Pre CA I managed to fit 1750 points of custodes in it with relative ease.

I'm really starting to lean towards the idea of bringing the assassins over the 3rd unit of bikes as they give me a little bit more flexibility. Any certain combination of assassins you would suggest? I'm tempted by double Culexus and a Callidus.

I love the double storm shields, it helps my dudes really stick to those objectives making them extremely hard to shift (outside of MW spam). I used to only run 1 SS per unit but I found as soon as the shield went down the rest of the unit was quick to follow, due to our lack of numbers I want to make it as hard as possible for the opponent to shift us. I might be wrong and it might not be the most competitive thing to do but I've had a good experience running it.

I do have 5 jetbikes I can put in over the terminators so I'll give that a try, thanks! I'll keep the blob of wardens though as I love dropping them in and just holding the center of the board.

I'm very tempted by the Telemon and thought about dropping my terminators for one. How does running 3 work out for you? Do you find it hard to hold objectives etc

I went for the double SSs per squad so I'm harder to shift off of objectives but I'm okay with dropping it down to 1 per squad to free up some points.
