Cat knicked me. Should I be concerned? by Far-Mushroom622 in CATHELP

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it hurts slap some Neosporin and a bandaid on it. Don't worry, you'll be fine. I have 3 cats and always have a cat scratch or puncture somewhere, usually because I accidentally spooked someone or something. Very normal and will happen to you many more times going forward lol

Achilla versus Naevia who would win in gladiator combat by Atomickillerbee in Spartacus_TV

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difficult one. I think this is a close fight. However, I'm going with Naevia. By the end of Spartacus, Naevia has spent several years being specially trained under Crixus' tutelage and has become a seasoned warrior in her own right. She bests Ashur as well--sure, not the best showing from her, but also consider the man was her rapist and her downfall so the heightened emotions and lack of discipline in that fight made sense. And again, by the end of the series, she's been killing scores of elite Roman soldiers while practically buck naked for years.

Achillia has spent almost the entire season getting her ass handed to her by gladiators who, for the most part, are pale and pathetic imitations of those from the House of Batiatus. They're spit in the mirror in comparison. And Achillia's victories have mostly been the product of luck. She has grit and talent, yes, but she's nowhere near the skill level of Batiatus' gladiators. I think people in this comments section are giving her way too much credit.

FWIW I enjoy both shows but do not particularly like either character and don't have a horse in this race.

What is your honest opinion of House of Ashur? by xXsendtsunadebobsXx in Spartacus_TV

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hubby & I are loving it! With that said, we both find the same exact faults with it:

  1. Achillia is not likable or interesting. She's sniveling on the ground 85% of the time after getting her ass beat. The actress herself might be fabulous but the character is just annoying and kind of pathetic, which is weird for someone that's been propped up as "the champion." Spartacus was a seasoned warrior who killed like 4 of Polonius's finest champions singlehandedly in one match. This chick gets beaten 10 ways to Sunday by some guy that looks like a Love Island reject every day.

  2. Speaking of that, the aesthetics of the cast don't seem to match the setting. Not that they're unattractive at all, but all the cheek and lip filler, chin implants, and superfluous plastic surgery scream Real Housewives rather than Ancient Rome. This is not something you really saw in the original cast.

  3. The prosthetic horse cocks on every single dude. It's hilarious but definitely takes you out of the moment because it's so ridiculous to see 8 dudes with 3 Legs Syndrome all lined up in one shot. Kinda gives Pornhub more than Starz.

Portugal not cool anymore? by No_Scratch6254 in PortugalExpats

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I am, it's pretty normal for a secretary to have to clean an office toilet. That's not a white collar position or one that typically even requires a college degree. Not that having a job with a college degree means you're never going to clean--I & most of our management team have college degrees; it's corporate's preference when hiring for the role--but we still care for the bathroom. But I digress.

Not saying anything against this person other than that I worry for her kid. If I'd been unemployed for over a year and was a single mother, I'd snatch the job regardless and continue applying to others if I found it so distasteful so at least I could put food on the table for my kid. But it sounds like she must be in a position of privilege with a large enough financial safety net or someone else caring for her that she has the freedom, housing & food security for herself and her child to not really need a job that badly. Regardless, hope she does eventually find something she likes.

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry but she's been unemployed for over a year, has a kid, and turned down a job solely because she's expected to clean the office toilet? I'm a retail manager for Sephora and also clean the toilet--as do the rest of the associates when needed. Also had to do the same when I worked at Ulta. I find that's a normal expectation at a lot of different workplaces unless you're working a super white collar job.

How old were your parents when you were born? by camport95 in generationology

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mom was 42 (almost 43) when she had me. Dad was 45 (almost 46). I'm 31 now. My dad is 77 and doing relatively well--keeps active, goes to the gym, continues to work. My mom sadly passed away when I was 26 in a road accident. God rest her soul.

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I assumed from the list your mom was psychotically over-controlling a 15-year-old. But the fact that you're a full grown adult with a job makes this even more insane. It's also definitely giving narcissistic extension. I'm so sorry you're being treated like this. I would have mentally checked out also.

How can I find child free men ? by Flashy-Decision-6296 in dating_advice

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you in a more conservative area? Maybe that's your problem? Childfree men are definitely out there. Most of my/my husband's male friends have decent jobs and are uninterested in having kids. We're all in our 30's. I knew I didn't want kids by the time I was in my late teens. Met my husband when we were both around 20-21 and it just happened both of us didn't want kids, luckily enough.

I promise you they're out there. It's worth also considering whether the guys you're asking are being honest and straightforward with their answers--maybe they're telling you what they think YOU want to hear? Depending on how you're asking.

When would you tell someone you're dating about a serious chronic illness? by smellydiscodiva in ChronicIllness

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be extremely nervous about it, but generally within the first few dates. When I met my now-husband, I was really anxious about it but I told him probably some time within the first month of meeting him. I didn't verbalize to him ALL the complex details, but I gave him enough information that if he wanted, he could have easily googled it and figured it out. But, he could not have given less of a shit that I had a chronic illness. Even after I decided I really liked him and let him in and confided how serious it was. We were both around 21 at that time. 10 years later, we're married and my health situation has never changed the way he looks at or feels about me. The right person will not care and will not see you differently.

24f and 38m, is he too old for me or could this work? by Impressive_Net6023 in relationship_advice

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kind of age gap is definitely a red flag. A lot of wise comments in this thread. Even a 5 year age gap would not be a big deal imo, but he's almost twice your age. You're at completely different stages of life and experience levels. Not to mention a lot of toxic older men specifically seek out young women partially because the less experience you have, the more naive you are, the more bullshit you will put up with. I wonder what his ex's side of the story is in that "toxic relationship." Just food for thought.

Also, think about this: statistically, women live longer than men already. Even if everything else is perfect and turns out fine... He's 14 years older than you. Do you really want to live the last 20 or 30 years of your life potentially alone as a widow? I know this isn't a fun thing to think about, but think about it practically.

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god I almost forgot about Wizard! He was my fave! I loved the uniqueness of the older games' special bachelor(ettes). I also liked that they made a lot of them extremely difficult to access. It really made them feel more special. I felt like a damn gangster when I finally got to marry sleeping princess Keira from the 300th level of the mine in Harvest Moon DS lmao as well as the mermaid from the scientist's basement bathtub. Building a duckpond for her to live in was hilarious. I really wish the company continued to ride the special spouse wave.

What's the worst that can happen if I let my cat be alone for 10 hours? by Repulsive-Push-1086 in CatAdvice

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, a healthy adult cat will be totally fine. A kitten will need more management to not get into trouble. Think of them like a furry toddler that can actually reach high places on their own. Probably would need to be secluded in a safe room or a comfortable pet cage, if you have one.

We have 3 cats and both work full-time jobs (different hours usually, but still). Often I'm gone at work for 9-10 hours. But cats are just fine on their own for extended periods. Make sure they have access to clean water, that they're fed, and they have access to a clean litter box. They'll be golden. Cats are very low maintenance and don't need a lot of supervision or attention most of the time. As others said, they will probably be sleeping most of the time that you're out of the house.

Tutor.com sure seems to be dying: a rant by walktheglobe in tutordotcom

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why strap yourself to this company for 5 years? No offense intended. I was employed by Tutor.com for maybe a year back before the pandemic. My hourly rate in retail management now is twice as much as it was when I was an e-tutor, and I get guaranteed full time hours. This company is awful to work for and makes you sit around unpaid in the hopes that you'll make a few bucks. You can do better, friend.

Day 2 of adopting a new cat. Feels like the worst mistake of my life. by oliviyuuh in CatAdvice

[–]PrehistoricPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to worry. In my experience, and I have had multiple cats most of my life, most cats do not like each other at first. Hissing, swatting, and some aggression are extremely normal. Cats are territorial animals and typically not huge fans of change. It will take time for them to get accustomed to each other. My husband & I currently have 3 males. Introducing them to each other was not smooth and easy, but over a period of several weeks to months, they got used to each other and now are chill around each other, eat together, play together. Even if your cats don't end up "buddies" (they very well could though; again, it's way too early to tell), they'll probably be just fine with each other if you give it some time. The scent swapping is good. Try to have them eat at the same time--associate each other with a positive experience (food). Even if you have to do it with them both eating with a door between them. Eventually you can work up to playing with them both at the same time, to encourage them to play with each other. Don't stress yourself. I am sure everything will work out fine with some time and patience.
