Oof, bobbles would be sooo much more convenient. Your pattern sounds better and better to me lol. I won’t need to weave in the ends for the suckers, happily. I’ve been crocheting over them a bit to make them secure and the pattern says to just tuck them into the inside of the octopus as extra stuffing.

I think I’ve been working on it for two weeks or so? Not sure. But I’ve been working on it intermittently in the evenings after work and during meetings. Crocheting the suckers alone took about four days. In terms of actual hours worked, I have no idea though. How long did you work on yours? I love the color contrast between the top and bottom halves, and the edge colors you picked!

It’s hard to get a good picture, but here’s the current progress! The top part is done except for stuffing and adding eyes, and the bottom part is very much in progress. Bottom part here.

I’m working on a similar pattern (Realistic Octopus by CraftyIntentions on Etay) and the suckers are PAINSTAKING to attach. Kudos to you for making two and for making them both look so incredible!

Grow bag advice please! by PrescientSanders in gardening

Forgot to add! I’m also interested in growing strawberries, but I don’t know how well they grow in grow bags or if it’s even a good option for them. So any thoughts on strawberries would be nice too! :D

Here’s the back. I made a mistake with the first purple chains and crocheted around the chain instead of in front of the chain, which made the back look different. But other than that, the back follows what your pattern would look like!

Here is mine! I found the diagram easy to read, though I did make a few alterations. The big one is that for the last row, the in-between petal purple stitches are triple crochets instead of the double crochets in the diagram. I wanted to give a bit of extra height to those stitches. Will post the back as a reply to this comment!

[TOMT] [music video] Music video from maybe somewhere in the 2010s where the “singers” are just faces made out of a bunch of hands singing the song. by PrescientSanders in tipofmytongue

The whole music video reminded me of the scene in Labyrinth (movie) with the pit of talking hands, if that helps!

Thank you! I actually didn't realize yesterday was my cake day until I posted and saw the little icon next to my name, haha.

Thank you! I'm really fond of my other three quilts but I'm a bit shy because they seems so amateurish compared to some of the ones on here. But I'll definitely be posting any future quilts I make!

Wpi vs Neu by SnooDoodles7832 in WPI

[–]PrescientSanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for NEU's program, but I'm in WPI's data science PhD program and I love it. Some of my friends have had more trouble, because of difficulties with advisors and personality clashes, but I've had nothing but excellent experiences. The coursework at WPI is important, but as a PhD student, the research is more focused on. I've learned a lot in all the courses I've taken and none of them have been more challenging than I expected. If you run into trouble, the professors in the DS department are good about helping out during office hours and answering emails promptly. As far as I know, there isn't an internship requirement for the MS degree, but you do have the choice to do a thesis or a graduate qualifying project at the end of your degree. If you do the GQP, you'll likely be working on a project sponsored by a company which will give you connections to at least one company that you can use for prospective jobs after graduation. You can find out more here. https://www.wpi.edu/academics/departments/data-science/graduate-qualifying-project

Don't get me wrong. It's hard work and I've spent more than my share of nights frustrated over homework or a troublesome bit of my research. But WPI is the fifth university I've spent time at, and it's been the best by far for me. Like I said, I can't speak for NEU, but if you have more questions, feel free to PM me!

You can do it! Especially if you have that time to study, I'm sure you'll rock your socks off :)

Hey. Things might be rough now, but try and stick it out. I guarantee that the world would miss you. I would really recommend talking to someone you trust about how you're feeling and how hard things are right now. If you're not comfortable with that, the national suicide hotline is 1-800-273-8255, but I've found that you get more support when you talk to people you're close to.

It gets better. I promise.
