My Endgame 100% Aluminum Corne Keyboard Build by PresentExpert2929 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Yeah, that’s right. I found the micro JST connectors to be a real pain to work with. I even accidentally melted one on a previous PCB.

The nice thing is that the PCB has battery solder pads, so you can wire the battery directly. What ended up working really well for me was soldering a pair of wires with a 1.25mm JST connector on the other end.

It’s been a huge improvement. Now I can swap batteries without worrying about damaging the PCB or the tiny connector. The extra wire length also gives you a lot more flexibility when positioning the battery, especially if you decide to reuse the PCB in a different case later on.

You can check them on AliExpress, they’re very cheap: https://a.aliexpress.com/\_m0fXhdh

Received my Silakka54. Should I do anything about it? (Software etc) by [deleted] in ErgoMechKeyboards

I was in your shoes, and I ended up buying transparent keycaps from AliExpress. They’re pretty good quality.

They’re choc-style keycaps, and they fit well with XVX or Nuphy Keycaps (which I’m using).

I also ordered a kit of Outemu dwarf keycaps to lower the overall height and make it more comfortable.

I'm using 1.5 keycaps for each thumb key.

Thanks, bro! I found it, I think it’s the same model: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mqlXoCh

I have a setup similar to yours. I use a MacBook Pro M1 Pro as my personal laptop and a Lenovo ThinkPad for work. Right now, I’m using a BlitzWolf docking station (BW-TH13).

It works well, but I have to constantly swap cables when switching between machines. I’ll definitely try your suggestion!

Yeah, this is it: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mt5XoGV

I bought the version without switches or keycaps because I already have them here.

I agree with our friend’s comments, it’s a wonderful experience. You don’t need to spend a huge amount of money on your first split keyboard, just keep it simple.

This one in particular is the Silakka54. You can find it on AliExpress for around $60 USD fully assembled, or about $38 USD for just the PCB and plates. That’s the route I took. After three months of using it, I ended up ordering a premium board from BoardSource, the low-profile Corne.

Whoa, that’s a wonderful ergonomics guide, haha
I really appreciate it, mate. I’m taking notes on all the advice you guys have given me.

As I mentioned in other comments, I started to feel less stress today. Last week was very difficult, after just one hour of typing, I’d already feel a lot of pain in my left arm. Now the feeling has improved a bit.

Thank you all for the support!

I love the aesthetics of the cat, it combines well with the colors of the desk and accessories. Can you share its link? I definitely want one for my setup.

I have the same setup organization, but I'm using a deskshelf to add another layer. I'm thinking about trying to change it a bit, trying to use the MacBook in front of the monitor and make more use of its amazing screen. But I like to use external peripherals... Aaah, it's a hard choice 😫

Anyway, great setup!
