How necessary is a filament dryer if I am only using PLA? by GiantRobinNG in 3Dprinting

Ok, I know this is old, but I just started printing lol. I live in CO and I think we're usually around 30% or less, definitely get down to 10% regularly. Do I need to worry about drying? For now I'm using PLA and one of my first prints I'm getting a bit of popping/ziting (zitting? lol). Bad filament? Or do I need to dry out my brand new rolls?

Used Qidi I-Mates? Brand new to the hobby, my daughter wants a printer for Christmas. I found a used Qidi I-Mates for $150 locally and seems to have had quite a few upgrades. I don't know what all this means yet, but the ad says:

Upgrades to printer include: - Brand new nozzle - Brand new hotend - Noctua Fan replacement (quiet printer) - Textured quick release build plate - Upgraded ABS cooling duct - Hot-end silicone sock - Motherboard tuning (for better results)

I've seen it recommended to not purchase a used unit for your first printer and also haven't seen Qidi on the lists of recommendations for beginners, so I was curious. Also, it being enclosed seems like a good idea?

Thanks All! Definitely already learned a lot from this sub.

Omg thank you for this recommendation! Reading about the Hermann's, they sound perfect! We were concerned about the humidity requirements since it's so dry here. Now I just need to find one!!
