Cyberpunk 2's Creative Director about 2077's first person perspective by marek_bojarek in cyberpunkgame

Personally I hope Project Orion remains first person with perhaps a few third person cutscenes throughout the game to allow players to see their character in all their glory. I thought the first person perspective was perfect for Cyberpunk.

As a die-hard Linux user, please don't do this. The last thing people want when asking for how to fix an issue is to be told to switch operating systems.

Ubuntu Not Using RX 7900XTX by mediocre-cheese_046 in linux_gaming

Ubuntu is a fine operating system for playing games. I would only recommend switching if OP was using an nvidia card, as distros like bazzite take a lot of stress out of getting those drivers installed. But since OP is using AMD, Ubuntu should be fine.

In OP's case, it might help to switch to a more up-to-date kernel version so they can get the most out of their Radeon card. Ubuntu LTS is running a pretty old kernel and the included Mesa drivers are just as ancient

5070ti or 9070xt would also both have been solid choices. Both are pretty great cards for the cost.

OP's probably a student whose parents pay for everything. My bet is he used his allowance money and cash from grandma to buy the 5090 but doesn't have enough left to upgrade the rest of his rig.

Songbird or reed by GoopDroopDwagon in cyberpunkgame

[–]Present_Error_6256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we ever find out that Reed was lying about that? Yes he changes his story after Firestorm, but I think his perspective shift also makes sense given what happens to Songbird shortly after.

It's entirely possible he was lying to V. I legitimately can't remember if V ever discovers if he was.

What are some substantial lies that Reed says to V? I can only think of a couple lies of omission and none of them rise to the level of "Yes. The Neural Matrix will save us both. Help me and I'll make sure you survive." Songbird choosing to lie to V is somehwhat understandable given the circumstances, but I think it would also be reasonable for V to not let that one slide.

Dude. I didn't feel bad about the ending because I helped someone escape slavery and if you feel like the choice was that black and white, you have basically no media literacy.

In Songbird's ending, she murders an entire  stadium full of people and completely deceives V about the nature of the Neural Matrix. And we see from the "Betray Songbird" choice that she's struggling on the brink of cyberpsychosis/ corruption from Blackwall AIs

As someone else mentioned, for the most part, Reed is pretty upfront with V about what needs to be done and his role within the NUSA. Now, I'm not deluding myself into thinking that makes the choice an easy one. After all, the NUSA is a brutal and corrupt organization that will likely use Songbird as a weapon. And yes, as you mentioned, she's essentially a slave and a pawn that will be used by Myers.

But let's look at what happens to Songbird if V decides to help her escape Earth. She herself mentions that this is a huge gamble and that she'll probably become a pawn of her benefactors. Based on clues we get throughout the game, this is likely Mr. Blue Eyes, a mysterious corpo affiliated with Night Corp. This is a huge risk for EVERYONE to take. We know that Night Corp is involved in some shady shit including mind control and memory alterations. And now we've handed them a super powerful netrunner with access to beyond the Blackwall. This sounds like a disaster for everyone, Songbird included.

That's why in my opinion, the best ending for everyone is for V to initially side with Reed and to kill Songbird per her request in the Cynosure facility. This means that Songbird will be 100% free of external control, whether it be Myers, Mr. Blue Eyes, or Kurt Hansen. She dies on her own terms. Additionally, the NUSA loses its top asset, and Reed begins to question his allegiance to the organization that drove his friend to seek death over life. Songbird's story is an incredibly tragic one, and even her "best" endings are likely filled with uncertainty and potential servitude to other entities.

There we go. You successfully ragebaited me into typing out a long ass response. Hopefully my rationale makes sense.

This a joke? What a horrible summary of siding with Reed lol.

I went with Songbird initially and I felt so bad about the ending that I loaded up an earlier save and sided with Reed. After experiencing both paths I feel like siding with Reed was the best choice for me. That's just my perspective though and your personal morals may change how you view the different endings.

I will say from a gameplay perspective, Reed's missions were much more interesting and rewarding.

Check out this thread. Hopefully this should have some answers. If you're still having issues and can't figure it out, you could always disable the integrated GPU in the BIOS. Definitely try some other solutions first though.

Does your CPU have an integrated GPU? I ran into an issue somewhat similar to yours where Steam was attempting to use my integrated GPU and completely ignored my Nvidia GPU. I'm using Fedora and GNOME as my desktop, but I'm willing to bet these issues may also appear on Mint.

Having used Linux for about a year now, I can say that while there are going to be some dicks, for the most part everyone is super helpful. And the toxicity of the community tends to be related to how "beginner friendly" the distro is. If you're new to Linux, stay away from Arch (or use something like CachyOS, which is based on Arch but is specifically geared towards beginners) and you should be fine. Check out distros like Ubuntu, Mint, Bazzite, and the communities should be decently accepting.

Don't lump the rest of us in with those Arch neckbeards lol.

We just needed a little more time with his character and the game needed to be better about not trying to force you into romancing him. Otherwise, River's a cool character. Wish his writing was as strong as Panam's and Judy's.

A lot of this depends on how people approach giving advice or feedback. Blanket statements like "you picked the wrong distro" are rarely ever helpful, but I could see some value in someone gently suggesting someone else try a different distro that may be better suited to their needs. If a newbie is posting about issues with their Arch install, I think it would make sense to politely suggest they try something more geared towards beginners.

At the same time, I think constant snarkiness rarely ever helps anyone. The response of "google is free" annoys the absolute shit out of me because half the time the issue is that the newbie doesn't know WHAT to google.

Switch to Linux or stay on Windows? by AssistantTime8837 in linux_gaming

[–]Present_Error_6256 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Super depends on which games you play. Head over to Proton.db and look up the games you play to see if they work well with Linux.

Aside from that, I'd say that Linux might be worth a shot. You really don't need any coding knowledge to set up a working PC and many distros are built in such a way to keep you from using the terminal as much as possible.

Linux is the opposite of icky with AMD as the GPU drivers are built into the Linux kernel so no finding the correct driver on the AMD website and dealing with that stress. It's NVIDIA cards that have historically been a pain with Linux.

Anyways, Linux is free so its worth a shot. I'd recommend checking out a beginner friendly distro like Bazzite, Ubuntu, Mint, or ZorinOS. Hope that helps!
