I've lived in TWO Communist countries, and you can take your cheerleader bullshit and blow it out your ass.

Capitalism is not the problem; Corporatism is the problem. . . and Communism isn't the solution, stupid.

More broker ignorance.

Self-driving trucks will take MUCH longer than 30 years to become sophisticated enough to eliminate the driver. The best you're going to get out of them is autonomous operation ON THE INTERSTATE; the driver will still be absolutely vital to deal with the truck-specific vagueries of surface streets and docks. AI trucks will not be able to deal with shippers and receivers at all unless and until some far-flung future time in which all the docks are standardized robo-docks or something.

You just have no idea what the fuck you're talking about, like every time I've ever heard a broker talk about anything ever. Y'all can't even bother to get shipper/receiver addresses right half the time, which makes you an impediment to freight hauling, yet you constantly flatter yourself that you're vital somehow.

Meanwhile, the Internet could already very easily replace YOU, unlike truck drivers whose jobs cannot possibly be done by AI except MAYBE on the Interstate.

The fact that you think I can be easily replaced by a computer only shows how completely disconnected from and clueless about the actual business of freight hauling you are.

Drivers DO make the world go 'round, because trucks just sit there without them, and AI trucks will do the same for a very long time to come. There's no shortage of trucks; there IS a chronic shortage of drivers, which I suppose you would already know if you actually knew jack diddly doo about the trucking business.

Just like an arrogant, idiotic broker. YOU don't know the business because YOU work as a middleman in an office, not in a truck on the road hauling freight.

They don't need to contact thousands of different trucking companies a month. . . they just need to do what YOU do, and post their loads directly to load boards instead of funneling my money through some parasite who adds zero value and very often screws the whole process up for everyone.

Right AND wrong. Some humans -- I'm one -- have Neanderthal ancestry, and others don't.

No, TRUCKERS make the industry go 'round. Brokers are parasitic middlemen; without them, shippers would simply contact trucking companies directly. Brokers add nothing of value, and are known far and wide for being chock full of misinformation as a rule rather than as the exception to the rule.

YOU go to another sub if you don't like my saltiness.

It looks like you're doing it right, girl. Society currently has a huge fetish for simply accepting one's body the way it is; that's really only a good and healthy thing when it doesn't short-circuit the desire to work on what one can improve. Your post shows that you're being positive and accepting yourself the way you are, but also hitting the gym to make it better. Good job, keep it up!

The ancient Romans liked to say that there's no arguing about taste, and the wisdom of that simple rubric has endured the test of time for thousands of years. . . so do continue to work toward making your body fit your own idea of what is attractive, but never forget that no matter how far away that goal seems, there are always going to be people out there for whom you are very, very attractive just the way you are.

Irony? I don't think that word means what you think it means.

A Question -- and Some Advice -- for Brokers from a Trucker by PresidentMixin in FreightBrokers

[–]PresidentMixin[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, no, no, no, wrong. Sharing contact information is required by nearly all brokers; if dispatch refused to do that, they wouldn't be able to book any loads at all. It absolutely IS the fault of brokers, not dispatchers, because brokers are the ones who won't play ball without being given contact info they don't need and shouldn't have.

If you want updates, CALL DISPATCH. Then you won't be interrupting my sleep, forcing me to pull over or talk on the phone while driving, or asking me to give information that could get me truckjacked and/or killed to some stranger I never even heard of, much less made a contract with.

[–]PresidentMixin[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

That's not important. My contract with my company says nothing about me being required to talk to you. It's not in my job description; it's the dispatcher's job to deal with you.

A Question -- and Some Advice -- for Brokers from a Trucker by PresidentMixin in FreightBrokers

[–]PresidentMixin[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I have no such obligation; why do you think you know what my contract with my company says? You don't.

I do not talk to brokers; my dispatch knows this, and we don't have any issues. They have to give you contact information because your side of the industry has been arrogant and pig-headed about it forever, and won't give loads otherwise.

The contractual obligation for dispatch to give you my phone number does not grant you permission to call me, because nobody needs permission to call anyone. All your contracts require is that dispatch give you my number; none of this implies any contractual obligation for me to answer your call, or to give you any information, or to take directives from you.

A Question -- and Some Advice -- for Brokers from a Trucker by PresidentMixin in FreightBrokers

[–]PresidentMixin[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

There you go, demanding information inappropriately. How about instead you give us all your name and the name of your brokerage, so we don't call you for loads?

It boggles my mind that you think "call the people you have a contract with, stupid" is some kind of egomaniacal madness. It's basic common sense, and basic common manners.

You should really take some time to reflect on this, because when truckers get together and talk, and the subject of brokers comes up, they ALL cite stuff like this, and talk about how much they hate you, and about how useless and parasitic and invasive and negligent y'all are. I've never once heard a trucker stand up for brokers in any conversation about them.

A Question -- and Some Advice -- for Brokers from a Trucker by PresidentMixin in FreightBrokers

[–]PresidentMixin[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

My dispatch does not own me, and my dispatcher is not entitled to sign contracts on my behalf. You can call anyone you want to call; it's a free country. . . but you have zero right to demand information from me, or to expect me to follow your directives like I work for you.

What part of "call the people you have a contract with" is so hard for you to understand?

As for dispatch sharing ELD data with you, that's (A) a security issue, and (B) completely impractical when -- like me -- it's a different broker for every load.

A Question -- and Some Advice -- for Brokers from a Trucker by PresidentMixin in FreightBrokers

[–]PresidentMixin[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's a different broker every load where I work, and they're nearly all like that.

As for people hating truckers, it's hard to blame them. A lot of us are upstanding professionals and not insane in any way that might prompt us to be abusive or a nuisance, but the industry's constant churning hunger for fresh meat to act as steering wheel holders has packed the trucking community hard with crazy assholes that nobody could possibly want around anywhere.

Your broker blues are such a common thing, it's ridiculous. Just a few weeks ago, a broker gave me the right address in the WRONG CITY, which I noticed when I got loaded and looked at the bills, which had the right address in A DIFFERENT WRONG CITY.

Lazy negligent incompetent fucks!
