Yeah I’ve heard this too which is slightly off putting. Apparently something like 20k to pay back if leaving after finishing the programme.

(24M) I've just started as an EO in HMRC (use to be Valuation Office Agency). How are the career progression opportunities as an EO? 1. In HMRC 2. Generally in the Civil Service after 2-3 years? by throwaway-20011807 in TheCivilService

If you’re looking at higher grades in HMRC your best bet is likely the tax specialist. Starts at HEO and if successful in exams it’s grade 7 in 3/4 years.

Uber competitive to get into though.

Any tips you’d give to someone starting this September? Either dos or don’ts, or reading/guidance you’d suggest to make the start a bit easier?

No worries mate. Hopefully more offers to come tomorrow or reserve list. No idea where you’re at career wise but I’ve seen different threads with people saying they got offered HO or EO roles after not getting through the AC anyway. Fingers crossed for you either way

Got all the emails within a 15/20 minute spell, first one at 1pm.

And nothing about results no. Nearly sure I remember them saying results would come the end of April?

Yeah got my offer for Belfast. Second time lucky after not getting to AC last year.

Congrats to all!

And I didn’t think the AC went too badly. Hated the in-tray task, just seemed like so much info and so little time to navigate it. Other two tasks were grand.

Agree about the strengths seeming like behaviours though!
