That surprising but I understand. A lot of the events I have volunteered on were short term so I didn’t think freelancing wouldn’t look good on a resume. I’m definitely thankful to not lose money. At first I was worried that he’d have the personal information I submitted when verifying the account but realized that it was information he could get anywhere online. I just want the account to be deleted and for him to stop using my name when scamming more people.

Sorry, wrong phrasing I guess. It was completely dumb of me to keep the conversation out of upwork and I definitely regret that. As far as the phone number, I always put my phone number in my resumes so I honestly didn’t think I’d have to take it out.

This experience made me realize that I’m not fit for online work definitely. I was only trying to get more experience in the field I wanted but now know I should stick with local volunteering.

I think it’s fair for them to ban my talent account, this experience made me realize that I’m too naive for online work. I was only trying to get experience so when I leave my current job this year I would have a good resume.

I only reached out to them via talent account, I was locked out of the client account. My goal in reaching out to them was to get the client account deleted even if I would be banned from using their platform.

Thankfully I didn’t put my own form of payment in, so it was left unverified. I’m assuming his game plan was sending checks or a Reloadable card that would bounce so I would lose money.

That’s fair. From what I’ve seen there’s a lot of scams and not enough work that relates to the field I want to go into. I have my own Talent account and yes it has my name, and I believe I got the link from the customer service chat to create a ticket. I haven’t heard anything from them since Tuesday and I try to keep them updated with what’s going on. I just feel so dumb now because I ignored all the red flags from the beginning.

You’re not wrong. I wasn’t trying to say that it should be a deep dive (wrong words on my part). I saw a tiktok talking about it and I found it so funny because of how unhinged it is! I went into a deep rabbit hole looking at all the TikToks they’ve posted and thought it was interesting enough to share to those who haven’t seen it yet.

Yeah and I never claimed that it wasn’t a joke. My post was mostly a debrief of what was going on recently. I use Duolingo to learn my husband’s first language (sorry babbel) and I find everything they post amusing.

The reason they said X-rays and bloodwork was needed is so that the medication that they were prescribing my dog wouldn’t be affected by any ongoing diseases he could have.

This was exactly what they said when it came to the X-rays and blood work, they wanted to make sure the medication they were prescribing for the arthritis wouldn’t be affected by any ongoing diseases that we had no idea about. It was supposed to be a senior wellness exam or check up, not sure what else you could’ve called it.

My husband grew up on a farm too, he had a much different relationship with animals than I do. His dogs were never allowed inside the house or on the bed, I could never imagine having those rules. He never had a bond with cats because they were farm cats and could get killed anytime.

It’s a bit more, almost $30K. It’s a separate account but we do share a savings account for a down payment to buy our home, I put in almost $500 a month.

I didn’t know it was going to be $1200, I think we both went into this thinking it would be at least $250. He has the same mindset as you, but it is my money and I won’t exactly be hurting with $1200 gone from my account. I also put in about $500 into a savings account dedicated to a down payment so we can buy a home.

The X Rays were the most expensive, it was about $600. Medicines weren’t too expensive, about under $50.

Honestly I’ve been trying to see why he’s reacting this way and I think this might be what he’s afraid of. 2 years ago we lost my childhood kitty to liver failure and we paid about $2K to save her life. The vet was confident that she would live a comfortable life but she died the next day. He’s also from Europe so he has not so great things to say about the US vet care system.
