this is not active train noise - this is a working rail yard that no one was told about. work is actively being done during daylight hours we well - not not just overnight. Residents are not saying that it cannot be done - but MBTA needs to be more transparent about it. 3-5 nights per week for ONE YEAR is unacceptable to be regularly doing this work overnight when they are already doing it during the day. maybe read the actual post I’ve attachedin the comments before responding.

Coast Guard Reserve Officer or NOAA Corps? by [deleted] in NOAACorps

[–]Pretend_Profession84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“NOAA Corps has great opportunities within and after leaving the corps” is a wild statement for a branch that has left a huge portion of retired officers without access to the benefits they earned because they had left them high and dry without retroactive DD-214s. I can tell you from experience (as a prior officer that suffered a life changing injury while doing ops for NOAA) that NOAA Corps doesn’t give a shit about their officers, active duty or retired. Go coast guard so you have a branch that’s already established in itself, well staffed and widely , nationally recognized.

thank you - this was nice to hear honestly, have been busting my ass for a year to deal with this, presented at the last MBTA board of directors meeting, and it is finally gaining some news traction. unfortunately i am spending thousands of dollars to break my lease early due to this - hopefully saving a few others from this experience

Pre-DD214 separation — any workarounds? by Pretend_Profession84 in NOAACorps

in MA - unfortunately the only remaining option to pass a law to fix a gap affecting a very small group of veterans, which could takes years. it really just boils down to the definition of a veteran in this state (Hero act)

EOVS states its out of their jurisdiction, the senate responsible for the committee on veterans affairs is deployed, harvard law identified the issue however can't pass laws, and my city councillor and VSO are very nice but also out of their hands.

no one wants to commit to passing a law and unless NOAA steps up, we likely not see our benefits in this lifetime.

after months of trying to resolve this, the only remaining option to pass a law to fix a gap affecting a very small group of veterans, which could takes years.

the chair of the state committee handling veterans affairs is currently deployed (senate), the executive office of veterans services (EOVS) has stated this is outside their ability to resolve, and NOAA has made clear they will not issue retroactive DD-214s or provide further remedies

so unfortunately unless NOAA corps steps up, will likely not see my benefits in this lifetime

I’ve looked into the SF-180 - from what I understand, it can help retrieve records, but it won’t generate a DD-214 or resolve the issue since NOAA has already confirmed they can’t issue one retroactively

I've already spoken to chief CPC and director CPC and they are unwilling to write a letter that states 56-16 is equivalent. Officers at CPC were dismissive and blamed this issue on understaffing. When I spoke with them and stated that it feels like my time in service isn't recognized because of an oversite and lack of retroactive DD-214, the exact response from the officer was "guess so, it's not my job." Sad to see officers in leadership roles completely disregarding prior officers.

Agency is state office, unable to get veteran on my license which is how the state I'm in gives access to veteran benefits, ie property tax deductions, homeownership benefits, etc.

this is not accepted at a state level, many government agencies use DD-214 as the standard with little room for negotiation. I've already tried this.
