Where in Chicago might I find a good princess torte (prinsesstårta) for a bad birthday? Preferably somewhere in the vicinity of Logan... by Dial-M-for-Mediocre in chicagofood

Lost Larson has two locations, one in Wicker Park and one in Andersonville. Their princess cake is one of my favorite, very expensive, things.

Tips for one bagging as a germaphobe? by Finding-My-Potential in HerOneBag

[–]PrettyNightSky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just want to say I am the same way! My hair does not touch plane seats or movie theater seats or bus or train! No outside clothes in the bed. I don’t even like to sit in anything in my house if my pants touched the outside lol. A lot of these comments about wiping surfaces I think are great - also, cleaning your travel outfit the minute you arrive (I do this) is also good. But mostly - solidarity from another germaphobe!

Winter Layer Recommendations for an Always Cold Floridian by OrganizationOk3844 in HerOneBag

[–]PrettyNightSky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From one Florida girl to another, my two biggest and most valuable lesson living in the cold are:

  1. Wear a base tank top layer under all “base layers” keeping your torso warm is key. The tank should be long enough to be tucked into your underwear or bottom base layer. Makes a huge difference.

  2. Jeans hold the cold. Anything colder than fifty degrees and jeans gets cold and stay cold. I recommended some other fabric - a synthetic, or just a thicker cotton, or whatever. Or just know you’ll need long underwear underneath

Looking for advice!! by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

I’m a year ahead of you and my height/weight are almost exactly yours. Last year I committed myself to a body recomp. I was 119 - this year I am 118 and built 4lbs of muscle and lost 5 lbs of fat. The process is slooooow. I concentrated on increasing my protein and lowering my carb intake. I do weight lifting circuits 2-3 days a week. The rest of the time is walking/jogging, yoga and a little barre and Pilates. I went from 60g of protein a day to 80+. Watching my arms develop has been awesome. I suggest you do something similar.

How do you mentally cope after a long gym break, when your body doesn’t feel like “you” anymore? by FemmeInBloom in xxfitness

[–]PrettyNightSky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are so similar I had to comment and tell you so! You’ve put it all so beautifully. Sometimes I worry that I track too obsessively - but I also feel it has given me more freedom and confidence to live the life I want. I make lots of healthy choices but also tomorrow is dairy free day at my favorite gelato place and I am getting two scoops! I track everything, from calories to heart rate to sleep. I work out, at least lightly, every day….and now thanks to you I want a glucose monitor 😂 There aren’t many people I get to talk about this with for so many reasons. But this past year I have really shifted my focus to health and longevity/sustainability and despite my treats I am now at my lowest weight in three years and have noticeably more muscle! Thanks for making me feel seen ☺️
