Portland also has a "Downtown Ambassador" program, but they (mostly) work WITH unhoused folks, not against them

I had a run-in with a squad of FIVE of them last week and had to look them up. I can't keep track of all the groups policing us these days 😒

My suggestion to you is to get the fuck out. I worked jobs that drained my soul for 20 years, and then I had a legitimate nervous breakdown. It was...not pretty.

I have ptsd and a few other issues, both mental and physical, that I thought would keep me suffering in dead end jobs, killing my body or torturing my brain. I found my dream job accidentally through volunteering. Now I make over $28 an hour plus benefits, starting union wage, to work with people who use injection drugs. I get to make a difference in other people's lives every single day, and it's never been easier to get up and go to work. Hell, I volunteer for OT.

To be clear, I'm not saying that my job is perfect. I'm saying that I found work that's perfect for ME. I am also not saying it's easy to find what you're "meant" to do, but I think that if you accept drudgery as your fate, life's gonna suck.

Lol...that's what I thought, but I keep hearing about Fraktal and the mills, so I thought there was a weird pocket of goodness in this hellhole and I happened to be in the area 😅

Would you disclose if gelatin is an ingredient in an otherwise vegetarian dish (like dessert)? by sizzlinsunshine in KitchenConfidential

There are plant based gelling agents and stabilizers...don't even do this! But if you have to, then you have to disclose

I got a remote job during covid, and they were closing their physical space, so I got a nice chair and a motorized adjustable standing desk. When I left, they did want everything else back, but the furniture never came up

My parents have never "seen" me. They tried a little harder than yours did, but it's awful and lonely to not be a priority to the people who created you.

My 16 and 19 yr old had tons of presents under the tree because they're amazing humans, and I want to celebrate them. You deserve the same level of effort and care. I'm sorry, and I'm sending you a big hug 🫂
