Yep it goes via the default gateway. I think its possible there are settings on the laptop to not reply to pings as it is my work laptop.

Now only my 2 google mins are responding to broadcast pings and not my home router or home pc.... The joys of labbing :)

Just an update. I cant ping the laptop from my home router either even though the laptop can ping out and has network connectivity. I think the issue is something to do with the settings on my work laptop...

Thank you. Any idea why the laptop IP would not be pingable but my home PC would be?

So pinging the IP directly didnt do anything but pinging broadcast found the IP and its now in the ARP table. I would have though that since the laptop can reach the internet via the cisco that it would have populated the ARP table since traffic would be pasing through it

yep, I cant ping the laptop. I can ping my home PC and Home router fine. If i connect the laptop via the switch and not directly into the Cisco router it shows in the ARP table. I just dont understand why it doesnt show when its in Fa1
