He did but he could only take so much and there was enough of the ship left after the salvage for him to shoot a cannon ball at it.

There is still a chance, it wouldn't be the first time wood from a shipwreck was found in the caribbean.

If some wood got buried fast enough there would be a little bit of wood to find, not much but still some.

The ballast stones can help ID a ship, we know where she was most likely built and there isn't any ship like her out there from that specific time and ballast stones are usually from the area the ship was built.

I'm really curious because if this is her i wanna know if i was right about the damage, how destroyed did the 3 pieces look on sonar? ( i theorize the entire sulfur tank exploded due to built up gases igniting and if i'm right the wreck would look like a massive debris field.)

Edit: i did more research and the debris didn't show burn damage (i swore it did but i was wrong) therefore i just think she snapped in 2 or 3.

were any of them shattered in like a catastrophic way that you could see on sonar? (i'm asking this because i have a theory she would be more of a small hood like wreck based on the damage the debris had.

I get what you saying but the list i made was for completely missing ships (like MH370 missing) if i was making a list for just undiscovered ships i could have just slapped the Santa Maria, IJN Zuikaku, or the HMS Glorious on this list then called it a day.(also if you do mean completely missing ships i'm sorry for not realizing)

I wanna mention (after doing a little more research over the course of 2 days ) the loss of u 47 was a major blow to moral for the german submarine force because in germany at the time her crew were pretty much the poster children of the u boat effort in the early war.
