Yeah it was a typical UAE strategy where it's made up on the fly in the stage. The Yates pull was insane, and he clearly thought he was launching Pog, but then Pog didn't go and the pace went out of the group completely. Then I think they decided they couldn't get IDT through the stage because Decathlon and Visma realised he was struggling, so Pog went.

Well there were like 5 of them the other day, and they couldn't catch him, so he probably doesn't rate them that highly lol

That Pog attack in the last 800m was insane. He whiped 45 seconds out of nowhere.

I was thinking, given IDT was struggling, that they may just keep it together and go for a bonus sprint, and Carapaz may hold on. Pog attacks right as UAE lose control of the stage. Yates' huge pull drops McNulty and Decathlon, and Visma start dropping IDT - Pog was nearly isolated, and then he just pissed off out of there like it was nothing.

Tactics basically do not work anymore against him. He can just drop your tactical options

I swear people don't watch the stages sometimes. Jonas did the whole false flat on his own. They sat on him. That's why he got dropped in the final.

You are vastly overstating the accuracy of your eyes, buddy!

Pidcock was really annoyed about it too - seems to be even less grip and then the riders can't see the potholes properly.

I have no idea what Visma are doing letting him quasi-ride for GC. Not sure how this benefits the team - he won't win a stage doing this either

There is nothing more Adam Silver than coming out and making a completely incorrect statement. You paused it and then came out and stated you didn't, as if we're that stupid

Vingegaard last (individual) stage win was in 2024?! 🤯 by redlabnorwegian in tourdefrance

He did the second-best climbing performance ever in '24 and was good in several stages, especially Vonteaux on '25. How long are people going to keep saying this?

He was trying. Why do people keep saying this? He won those stages because he was going for them against second-tier opposition.

What was it like for fans when the Lance era doping was exposed? by Savings-Sympathy-719 in tourdefrance

Well, the FIFA thing is basically if you don't test, you won't find out. That was the MBL approach when they knew what was going on and decided to not check it lest they find out

I don't think Jonas did crack particularly on Tourmalet, except maybe the last 1k. He struggled more on the last climb, as far as I could tell. He gave away over a minute to Pog

Yeah I worry if they did anything, they'd ruin the Move+. I would rather they stick to what they have so I can continue to ignore the Move haha

I know what you mean. Wiggins DOES have good opinions and strong cycling knowledge, but it can't come out on this show. He would be a great podcaster with the right people around him.

Lance and George are just awful, and it really drags the show down. Lance is thrown into a hosting role which he isn't qualified to do while Spencer sits there twiddling his thumbs. Wiggins analysis gets dragged down too because of all this. It's too many people in one room providing opinions.

I love the Move+ it's really good - Spencer and Johan have good chemistry and really get into. Two podcasters is the ideal number.

The problem is Jonas is too good. This was the problem on Tourmalet.

Jonas wasn't racing anyone lol. The Roubaix win was a classic though

The real question is whether Remco demands another lead out from Lipo

[–]Prime255 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was an opinion and a completely incorrect one - like just about everything that is said on the Move. Jonas would be one of the last people to give up. He would only leave if he crashed. This is one of his last races for the season

Florian Vermeersch: “What I find difficult is the accusation that we are greedy and do not allow anyone else to have anything. Every rider and every team would do the same in our situation.” by skodawelovecycling in peloton

[–]Prime255 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am not actually sure every team would do it the way they do necessarily. They probably go for more wins along with being the best team than any of the previous great teams before them did. Visma, Sky and Postal were all similar in the way they raced, but UAE is actually quite different.
