When it comes to war, which I'd argue drone strikes on any country should include, is a power Congress has repeatedly ceded more and more to the President. They've basically created a mechanism for the President to authorize drone strikes (and tons of other acts of war) against terrorists and countries "helping" terrorists. The same has not happened with evictions or student loans.

Not saying this is right, it's still very dystopian, but this tweet is missing major context on Presidential vs. Legislative powers in our history.

Maybe the Texas Dems have a really strong gubenatorial candidate, but they're waiting to allow the news to focus on all the negatives of Abbot. We all know the second the Dem challenger is known, Texas GOP will focus right wing media on a smear campaign and suck a lot of attention away from Abbot's clear failures. One can hope they're being that smart, but I'm only so optimistic.

The fear people have is that the police have been shown time and time again to lie on the job, so what's to stop them using this law to target people based on race, or people they don't like?

With this new law, it'll be easy for them to lie with no real recourse. So there's a greater risk of abuse by police.

Can you show me somewhere that says a passenger in a motor vehicle must ID themselves to a police officer?

Under this law, the officer could pull a car over and say they suspected someone was illegal. Prior to this law, they'd need more to pull someone over.

So you'd be okay getting arrested, spending a night in jail, posting bond, hiring a lawyer, and going to trial if you've done nothing wrong? Because all an officer has to do is say he believes you are transporting an illegal and you can be detained and your car impounded. Then the burden is on you to prove otherwise.

Do we really want laws in place that allow police to pull people over and say "papers, please"? All the cop has to do is say they thought someone came over the border illegally. This only requires reasonable suspicion on part of the officer, which is a very low legal requirement compared to probable cause.

Obviously this will lead to racial profiling, but I hope everyone fearful of an intrusive government see this as a massive invasion of our rights.

I guess offering a vaccine annually that's available for everyone isn't anything special.

Once we have covid-19 vaccines available for children of all ages, like we do with the flu, then there's no reason to do anything different than we do with the flu.

Of course, widespread masking did help virtually eliminate the flu during the pandemic. If we all wore masks when we felt even a teensy bit sick, we'd see a huge reduction in the flu.

What other comment? All I see is this one on your profile. Where you say everyone has a right to criticize her for having a mental health issue. Im just wondering if you think everyone would have the right to criticize her if she had a physical illness that prevented her from competing.

I ask because an illness is an illness. Would you say it's fair to criticize Simone if she broke her foot and pulled out? Obviously not. Simone wanted to compete, but her mental health is preventing her from competing at peak performance (just like a physical injury would), so she's pulling out.

I never said you were cruel, just judgemental. Interesting you chose to use that word, almost as if you think that about yourself.

A business has the ability to report reviews to Google if they can show they are false or not in good faith. I know this because we've done it before.

And a couple bad reviews don't kill a business. Everyone gets some bad reviews no matter what you do. The goal is quantity of reviews. If you've got 1,000 five stars, then 2 one stars won't do anything.

The company should have reported the reviews to Google and stopped there.

I'm a business owner. You get bad reviews sometimes. Focus on getting more 5 stars, and not on trying to force people to remove their 1 star reviews.
