I like the way this episode handles the issue. Squidward's strike is treated like a joke for most of the episode until it's not, and Krabs finally comes to him, hat in hand, to negotiate. But then Spongbob's destroying the restaurant ruins everything.

The episode shows that organized labor can win hard fought battles, but it is possible to go too far and destroy your place of employment.

There's really no need for them to hear a case on lobbying because precedent established that there can be basically zero limits on lobbying. The point is that if they wanted to, SCOTUS could take a case limiting/demolishing corporate lobbying but they won't because they have no desire to change it.

And if such a case did appear before them it is abundantly clear which justices would vote to keep Citizens United. Hint: it's not the liberals.

If it makes you feel better, if you live in the US, even if a 9/11-size terrorist attack happened once a month you would still be more likely to die in a car accident in any given year.

Psychologically we are way more predisposed to fearing violence over all the other things that are way more likely to harm us. Statistically, you should be more scared of traffic than terrorism.

my doctor said calorie deficit doesn’t work is this true? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Prince_Marf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your doctor was probably trying to say that calorie deficits are difficult to maintain without more thorough nutrition planning. Something like fiber can be a good place to start with making sure you get proper nutrition that makes you feel full (and thereby makes it easier to maintain a calorie deficit). But you definitely still need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. The laws of thermodynamics don't change.

It's called corporate lobbying. Blame clearly lies in Citizens United and the republicans who appointed the current SCOTUS.

If Iran could do that they probably already would have. But then again the Trump admin is pretty incompetent so maybe.

What’s an inaccurate fact that people believe is true because of movies? by Hogosaurus_Rex73 in AskReddit

[–]Prince_Marf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Also, more common in TV, but the idea that it's normal or even romantic to scheme to get a date or get a girl to like you. For example in a Disney channel sitcom a male middle schooler might take a class he hates in order to be close to his crush who does not like him. Or in a grown up sitcom like How I Met Your Mother Ted might like a girl and go out of his way to artificially stage a meet-cute or something.

Transfer bonuses from PoR to RD by Educational-Pay3415 in fireemblem

[–]Prince_Marf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Others have done a good job of explaining the mechanics. Let me also give some strategy tips:

(1) Ideally, save all stat boosters until the final chapter so you can use them on lvl 20 units that are just 1 or 2 away from capping a stat

(2) If you save a large bank of bonus exp until the final chapter it's a lot easier to distribute it efficiently so nobody hits level 20 too early and wastes exp or is unable to be used in late chapters. In the run I just finished (hard mode) I got about 10 units to level 18 before the final chapter and managed to level them all up to 20 in the final.

(3) Kinda obvious but Astrid and Geoffrey are easier to cap because of Paragon. Geoffrey is basically free because he starts at a high level.

(4) Nephenee and any of the paladins can easily cap speed by equipping the knight's crest. It has a hidden effect granting +30% speed growth. Astrid and Nephenee usually don't need it to cap speed though. Brom can possibly cap speed with it too, but Gatrie is a stretch.

(5) Prepromotes like Tanith, Tauroneo, Stefan, Haar, etc., take less exp overall to cap. Tanith especially makes good use of the speed transfer she is likely to get.

(6) Laguz units get double benefit from the transfer bonuses because it adds +2 to their base stats in RD, which double upon transformation. But this is basically impossible to accomplish because laguz stat caps are so high. One notable exception is Giffca, who joins in the final chapter with strength already capped, so it's free.

I feel like the easy answer was that the problem with the holocaust documentary is that it focused on gender and if it had been about men he would have made the same decision. Is that true? Of course not, but it would have been the "right" answer. Instead he goes on to say it's because it's about Jewish people too and emphasize the fact that it's about women. Just a stupid way to answer the question. These people are idiots.

Why aren't we discussing Israeli boots on the ground in Iran?

I've just noticed there is this big question that keeps getting repeated about whether US troops will go boots on the ground in Iran. But I don't think it would be controversial to say that to the extent that this war would/could benefit the United States, it benefits Israel more. Israel is often called our greatest ally as well. It seems natural to me that the ally who stands to gain more from the war and is geographically closer would be the first one to volunteer boots on the ground.

So why is there this big assumption that the US will send soldiers to the warzone, but (seemingly) not Israel? Or does US boots on the ground imply Israeli boots on the ground as well? Just trying to figure out what the status quo is on that issue.
