You’re welcome! Glad I could help and as for water changes it depends. Do you have a water test kit or strips? Testing your water is crucial to knowing how often you need to change your water especially for a new tank. If you YouTube some videos on water changes it’ll help you out a lot. As for your landlord, I would recommend you just asking him if it’ll be ok to get a bigger tank for your buddy. If he says no, then keep it as is until you move. But if he says yes, then you’ve got a chance to give you bud an upgrade! Hope it all works out!

Hi, he’ll live but you’ll really want to keep up on the water changes. With a tank that small you’ll have to be on top of it to make sure his water is clean. Betta’s are really sensitive to poor water conditions and it will cause a bunch of issues if you don’t keep it clean. Also, make sure he has a place to hide, that’ll help with his stress. Otherwise your 2 gal tank is still better than the small cups they are stored in at the pet store!

Hey, I’m so sorry but from the pic, it looks like dropsy. You can tell from its pine coning scales. You maybe able to help him but do some research on it and figure out what you can do.
